In fact the whole thing is way beyond me .... But it does strike me that there is huge potential for you moders to go crazy with your designs..... But it brings the whole new discipline of computer aided design stuff into the equation ... But it removes the need for drilling .. Cutting ... Etc etc Obviously providing the raw materials are suitable ... God I wish I was younger and understood this stuff !! You're not that old spikus............. You're using a computer ! No .. Believe me ... I am !!

A bit vague on the details but I seem to remember a 3d printed hybrid, Looked a bit like Lego but apparently worked well. And markm... I have no idea what the plastic stuff these printers use is like when it comes to heat resistance / conductivity etc etc ... But we have one at my work place and I've been staggered by the complexity of the things these printers can produce .... They can then obviously be coated / sprayed to give any effect you want ... Just seems to me the days of buying metal boxes and drilling holes must be coming to an end ... Unless of course you love hand built metal boxes ( and some people always will )

The only thing that puts me off plastic is if the battery decides to blow, it would melt that plastic in seconds, i prefer something that can handle the heat of a battery that decides to blow is there really that much of a risk and if so I take it it would only happen when in use im kinda attached to my hand so will consider putting a metal tube inside with the top end capped and just leave the bottom end open to allow pressure release (at least then it will shoot stuff down in stead of making me look like Freddy cougars pirate brother) off to utube exploding batts any other pointers would be gratefully received as I want to live as long as poss with all body parts still attached oh almost forgot the plastic ill be using is thermosetting so it will not melt with heat acid is prob a different story

I saw on the news a couple of weeks back that doctors used one to remodel and build part of a mans face that was shattered after an accident. They rebuilt his jaw and other pieces using the 3d printer. I was awestruck. Is plastic the only material that can be used to create things?

Yes dolly as far as im aware there are only 2 types of plastic they can use one is supple and the other is hard .The hard one is whats called themal setting which means it will only melt once as in when it is being formed after that no matter how much you heat it it will not soffen just reach a certain point and burn Hope that made sence lol
After youtubeing batts going poof i think i gona make up a small test box 1st and sort a batt in it to see how well it holds up

Friend of mine was in the states at a tech show, saw a 3d printer that used metal, god knows how, but that'll be the future when they come on the market.

I know this is going to sound totally stupid to those of you that know. I saw this on csi many moons ago, and someone printed a gun that was usable.
To me a printer you put paper in it and ink, and its prints the words from the screen onto the paper.
What on earth is a 3d printer, and does it provide a working object? Or have I been brainwashed by csi?

It uses a computer program to tell a little nozzle ( like a printer head ) to go back and forth squirting tiny amounts of plastic, layer by layer until the whole item is complete ... And yes they can make guns and the designs for them are apparently available online

Plastic do you buy , oh I don't know. Ok lets say want to make a gun, no maybe something simpler like A metal or plastic tube ( don't want to get too confused ) I need a 3d printer , then what?
