Sorry, this is probably such a newbie question you will want to slap me round the face. I will let you Especially as I could possibly have found the answer by using the search function. If seen it reported in several places that attys can last for anything from 14-60 days (although occasional much less). I always knew that I would have to buy some more fairly soon and so have some on order (hopefully will receive on Thursday) as well as some of the Mega Dual Coil Cartos Andy Sutton was waxing lyrical about on VTTV the other night. However, of the two attys I got with my kit I had a brief period tonight, were I thought neither was working.I had previously identified one as as a good atty and one as poor but was hoping it would come good. I even contemplated having to go back to analogues for a day or two whilst I wait for deliveries. Fortunately my "good" atty returned to working well after a brief hiatus. My poor atty I can't get any vapour from at all. One thing I have noticed is I need to keep my PV horizontal when not in use (which will be a pain when it is in my pocket but oh well) whereas I have generally been balancing it in a vertical position. I have also started trying to vape with it horizontal instead of the angling down (much like a pipe) I have previously used. Elsewhere on foru, on youtube, etc, I have seen suggestions of boiling in coca-cola, soaking in vinegar and others. What are my best actions to attempt to prolong the life of my good atty and try to revive my failed one? I'm sorry, this question must have been asked 100 times or more here. If you can just point me to older threads with the answer I will be really truly grateful. Thank you in in advance and apologises for being so stupid

Kingsley, you're absolutely not being stupid, please don't ever think that ok. We've all been there when we started vaping, it's a minefield at first . . . but it does get simpler, like anything. To your question, I've never had any luck with boiling, soaking etc etc . . . the only thing I do is to blow through an atomiser occasionally . . . if it's meant to last it will, if it isn't it won't in my personal experience. My best advice is to make sure you have spares, atomiser's are the weakest link in the vaping chain without doubt and ultimately they are a disposable item, whatever you do to them.

An over night Vodka bath has been known to help a little with some atomisers. The only other thing I find helps is to regularly blow them through, to stop the build up of e-liquid on the coil and always rinse them out with hot water, if I'm not going to be using them for a while.

Thanks for the info guys. So I guess it's really just pot luck as to the life span then and user action has little effect. Fortunately I'll have plenty of spares as of tomorrow (unless the Royal Mail are playing silly buggers as they are sometimes know to do ). I've definitely found though that resting it horizontally instead of standing it on it's end seams to produce a better vape though. It makes me wonder if there is a market out there for PV desk stands. I envisage a small block of polished wood with curved wire rising from it that you could rest your PV on. If I had the skills I'd have a go at making one for my self; I imagine that any that did become commercially available I would baulk at the price lol. Besides, I've found that between the numbers and function keys seems to work quite nicely whilst I'm sat at my keyboard. I'll keep experimenting. Thanks again guys!

I've seen a few pics of what people have used as cig holders, and a lot seem to of gone with the pen holder type options. Some very decorative styles out there. and one or two folks have gone with upright mobile phone stands too lol

An over night Vodka bath has been known to help a little with some atomisers. Just had a thought. Might meths work as well as vodka? I can see several advantages. Firstly it will be cheaper. And secondly I won't be tempted to mix it with orange juice or tonic water and drink it!

I'd be very wary of using a flammable liquid Kingsley, very wary. To save yourself from temptation . . . how about just buying a miniature bottle of voddie?

Compressed air works nicely but then not everyone has s compressor and the cans are expensive if you don't.

Think I would steer away from Meths as well Kingsley. You could always add Tonic to the Vodka and drink that. Then you wouldn't notice that the atomiser was under performing

Agrees with Perpy & Jason - not a good idea using meths as you could end up inhaling any that was left inside your attie Kingsley, as Perpy says, don't ever worry about asking questions. It doesn't matter how many times they have been asked before or how daft the question might seem to you. The only daft questions are those not asked Seriously though - that's the main reason for the forum, to help folks as much as possible

i may have missunderstood so forgive me but i would have thought that keeping your PV vertical would give you better performance ...the juice would settle nearer the atty.
dont use anything to clean your atty that you wouldnt be happy to consume
attys in their nature have very differing life spans... IMO its just down to pot luck

I'm with everyone else on this. Some last a week some 2 days. I don't bother cleaning them (I'm to lazy) but I do whiz them in my griz whiz to see if they've got any extra life in them.
Nats x

I have cleaned 2 DC carto's today by rinsing through with hot water then putting in a cup adding near boiling water then adding a teaspoonful of Bicarbontate of Soda then leaving for a couple of hours then rinsing again, a quick shake to dry out a bit the re-fill and go and it works really well. One of the carto's was getting a burnt taste and this has completely disappeared.
Bicarbonate of soda is well known to neutralise smells and is used in cooking (baking powder) so should be safe.

Bicarbonate is totally safe its in cooking and tooth paste etc and is used for cleaning so good choice.... do you get any residue left over Des ?
