Heartbleed is a wide-spread vulnerability that is contained in several versions of OpenSSL (secure sockets layer), which enables communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications including email and Web. This weakness has affected roughly two-thirds of all Websites on the Internet, and therefore it is imperative that all ..... employees take necessary actions. While it is not clear what sites have been affected, it is highly suggested that all employees change any passwords to all web-facing personal accounts. These accounts include popular sites such as Yahoo.com, Google.com and Facebook.com among many others. Please take the necessary steps immediately to ensure the safety and security of your accounts and personal information.

It was on the news a couple of days ago and the general advice was to wait until all vendors that you deal with apply the available software patch and then change your passwords.
Apparently there is no sense in changing passwords before this happens although it beats me how we will know when a vendor has applied the patch.

I just got some more info of my husband - he also works in IT - good news is that paypal, amazon, ebay, hotmail and most if not all of the banks ( lloyds, natwest, rbs, santander... ) are not infected

Most vendors should announce they have applied the patch, i assure you the bug is very real, but don't panic yourselves about it

I have checked with my store provider and the message I received was "we have already patched our servers and have several measures in place to protect us from this bug".

Should I be changing passwords? And if so is it just shops, or every site I use?
