It's that age old, just remove all the safety labels and let nature sort it out. If you don't have the sense to know not to point a moving drill towards you or to be careful with hot coffee then do we really want them in the gene pool? Common sense isn't as common as it used to be and I firmly believe that is because we are being nannied and taught not to think for ourselves anymore.

agree with collie2011 - free thought ain't what it used to be, too many muppets need telling what to/not to do about almost everything these days

collie2011 - you are SO right! I remember when I was a kid, we used to play British Bulldog, have regular "breaktime in the snow/rain/ice/mud" and fall off our bikes with no helmets/knee guards/elbow guards/toenail guards. My youngest kids school (when he was there) - At the slightest hint of drizzle, they were all back inside "just in case one of them slips over". I remember being on a school trip with some of the youngsters, a girl getting a nosebleed, me getting some baby wipes out to clean it up & being told frantically to "stop doing that because there might be a chemical in it that reacts with her skin!" ... oh ffs - yeah ok - take her back to school as she was & try to explain to her parents why she's covered in blood & nobody did anything to help. Arghhhhhh rant over

The things you have described are part of the reason why I didn't wind up going into teaching and also why I home educate. It's just getting ridiculous, my daughter rides a bike without elbow/knee pads, climbs trees, plays tag with her friends and if it's raining we put on a waterproof jacket and still have fun! Ice is for slipping on and laughing, snow is for playing in and rain is for jumping in puddles!

Trees are for climbing I have a thought..... They should also ban microwaves..... Why Cos at the local conveniance store the other day there was a fire caused by a microwave being put on for 60 minutes for warming sausage rolls not 60seconds by someone who was 'challenged' (intellectually). After 10 mins and with smoke billowing out she was still sat there eating her crisps waiting for it to 'ping'. (she was staff) Hmmm...I'm going to triple check everything when I next get served by her
