Ok, so I've just had a look at the trains . . . Templemeads isn't very convenient for me I'm afraid, I'm 30+ miles out of Central Bristol.
My nearest station at Yate has this:
8.01 departs, change at Gloucester, arrives at Tamworth 10.05
The Moat House is only just over half a mile from the train station, so I can easily walk that.
Coming home:
18.01 departs Tamworth, change at Cheltenham, arrives at Yate 20.13
I'd be hugely grateful if someone could check this for me, I'm completely hopeless at this sort of thing . . . it doesn't tell me what platforms I need to be on for the changeovers, that panics me!
Would the best way be to book the ticket online? Or there is a little man who comes round the train doing tickets from what I remember.

Just checked them on the train line website:- Outward Journey (22 Oct 2011) Depart Arrive Travel by Train company Duration 08:01 Yate arrive 08:32 Gloucester 08:47 Gloucester arrive 10:05 Tamworth RETURN 18:01 Tamworth arrive 19:10 Cheltenham Spa 19:34 Cheltenham Spa arrive 20:13 Yate £47.20 Off peak return You get about 15 mins to change trains. They don't show the platforms normally until on the day. I normally buy the tickets online and collect them from the machine at the station. You just need the card that you used to pay for them and the ref number. www.thetrainline.comSteve

Thank you SO much Steve . . . I think I'm going to go for it. I can pay the ticket man on the train, seems the easiest way. Just seen your edit about the tickets Steve . . . I'll go investigate.

Thank you SO much Steve . . . I think I'm going to go for it. I can pay the ticket man on the train, seems the easiest way. I've updated the post with website link. Some trains do not allow you to buy tickets on the train though. Might be worth asking first. You also get reservations when you book online. Handy if the trains are packed out.
