not far from us is a winyard - we drive past, when going to one of the supermarkets. Now me coming from a wine producing country - well I was a bit suspicious.As we had nothing planned last Friday I persuaded my husband to check it out - not even knowing if it's open. The building was not very big - but the door was open - and we came for a pleasant surprise.

The wines - he has at the moment 3 different whites, one red and one 2 sparklings were really nice ( we did not try the Sparklings - but the others ) The guy certainly knew his stuff and we came home with 5 bottles.

They are not cheap cheap wines but £ 8.3 for a really nice bottle is not too bad either 

would not have thought of that

lol - Steve (VapeStorm) - no - but he let's you try the non sparkling wines

more than 20 years ago I once tried a wine from the UK ( don't want to say where from - lol ) and it was awful - a waste to put the liquid in a bottle

but those wines were very nice - now I am not an expert - I just know what I like and what I don't like - and noticing already, that having stopped smoking helps to taste the wines better

Oooh , where abouts in Woody? I know woody well, by landmarks not streetnames - Is it on the net?
I don't drink wine but like to treat friends at xmas, birthdays etc.

I drink wine - but also thought it will be nice to surprise friends and family - specially those from abroad with an English wine

edit - if you are in the area - let me know - we could go for a pint to the vape friendly 2 pointers

Thanks for that, my mates drink dry white all of them and I have no clue as I can not stand the stuff, so always looking for something a little different.
The masons used to be my haunt every Friday night.

Hi Clivia. If it was more than 20 years ago, you may well have tried a British wine, which is very different to an English wine. There's a good explanation here My local vineyard sells lovely wine, link , but its blooming expensive, so only for special occasions. English wines are winning more and more international awards, and we don't put antifreeze in it either

I know Clivia , I was the manager of an off licence in 1985, so that's why I remember it. It just goes to show how a few unscrupulous people can ruin the reputation of something. Dodgy e-cigarettes or liquids could do the same thing

Why thank you Clivia. I was the youngest manager in the UK in a very large chain of off licences. I think they've disappeared now.
