Letter to prospective MEPs in Bristol

I want my EU vote to go to vaping so I just sent this to my candidates in Bristol via writetothem.com

Dear Trevor Colman, William (The Earl of) Dartmouth, Ashley Fox and Sir Graham Watson,

I am truly undecided who to vote for in the upcoming EU Elections. But there is something that is very close to my heart and will swing my decision, and I would like to find out what your position on this matter is.

That matter is e-cigarettes, or 'vaping' as it is more accurately referred to.

Why is this such an important situation for me?
Well, I was a smoker, I loved smoking, but I valued my life and health more. So I tried many times to give up. With Nicotine Replacement Therapies' (NRT) and cold turkey. These never worked for me, despite being quite single minded when I want to get something done.

I resigned myself to a slow miserable death from tobacco.

Then one day I saw an advert for an ecig. I bought it just to see what it was about... 2 months later I realised I hadn't smoked tobacco for 2 months.

That was over 2 years ago and I haven't looked back. In fact the opposite. I love exploring the millions of different flavours out there, especially the ones created by craft mixers who are just like top chefs, but masters of vapour instead of food.

Not only that but as I feel so much better in myself, I got the impetuses to start exercising and eating better. I have not felt this great since I was 20 years old!

However the EU and the Government seem dedicated to removing this wonderful, life saving device away from me.

The reason seems to be unscientific rhetoric from people unqualified in this area (such as the mechanic Stanton Glanz - who has infuriated hundreds of scientists for deliberately mis-repsententing results), seemingly paid for by Big Pharma (who you must remember make 25% of their profits from NRTs and smoking related drugs).

They say that they are 'unproven', but there are hundreds of studies carried out over more than10 years and I have never seen one that is negative. Even the anti-ecig brigade admit they are at least 1000 times better than tobacco.

I truly believe that supporting ecigs (or ENDS as they are sometimes called) will bring about the end of tobacco with-in a decade. And with it save millions if not billions of lives.

The current EU regulations as put forward in the Tobacco Products Directive will strangle the free industry, make the products less effective and turn many people back to tobacco... and an early grave.

That is why I feel so strongly about this matter.

If you could promise us vapers unwavering support I will be pleased to offer you my vote.

PS - I have sources and peer reviewed studies to back up my claims, and would be happy to supply them, I just didn't want to make this any more boring and longwinded than I had to. Also, if you would like to know more about this area, I have a lot more to bore you with. I could even gather a group of ex-tobacco slaves, turned happy healthy vapers, if you wished.

I am going to write to my MP as well. I was thinking it would be a good idea if Vapers from the same constituency could all each write a letter to their MP and send them of a piece , along with anything else that may be helpful-doctors reports Fev charts - DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA??

She has been very active in supporting us vapers in the EU Parliament.

Nikki is amazing - I wish I could have voted for her.

I was part of the Brussels trip. I was all ready to assume she was on this just to be anti EU like UKIP seem to be, but I have never met a politician (or many people) so genuine.
