wardriving & static , your favourite kit/set ups please ?

Hello,

for those wardriving or static, what is your favourite kit and set up ?

What is you usual working distance, and also your best distance in a city with this kit and set up ?

So far my bits of search (bits as unsure what to search for kit wise) show possibly these 2 seem suited, also unsure about static antennas ? -

1/ ALFA AWUSO36H with a 2dBi antenna, and also comes with a 10dBi antenna, to change to suit.
or
2/ Blueway 98000G with 18dBi antenna

3/ also shown were larger antenna physically, info on ranges for these with matched set up would be useful.
Siting of these - is it in the room or long cable runs into higher places ?
