The voice of reason personified. Yes, all well and good, but unfortunately 'reason' does not always prevail. We are up against all the bigots, zealots and neo-puritans (how DARE they enjoy it!) - allied to the steady stream of bilge, disinformation and downright lies that big pharma/tobacco keep vomiting out. I remain pessimistic, but I sincerely hope that this time reason will prevail.

Richard Burr, United States Senator of North Carolina speaking about Tobacco Harm Reduction. A short video, well worth a watch here"Well worth a watch" Yes it is, thanks for the link vigowomble. The message is finally getting through, yet another positive piece. Positive news articles have been on the News all day. I think there may well be will be a lot more anti vaping stories to come for quite some time, but common sense will win in the end. I do think the UK Government along with all other Governments, will find a way to increase taxes on Vaping in one way or another, to counter act their tax loss from Tobacco sales, i.e. just let's call it what it will be a "Vapours Tax" on the seemingly easy target, e-juice. But I imagine most people will soon get round to making their own e-juice and coils, and being self sufficient so to speak, with the help of AAEC and especially the likes of "super-shiny" by then, should that happen. Vaping is here to stay, no matter what. The evidence/data in our favour is now being collected. And we are winning. I live in Cumbria, which does not have a large population, in the Towns and Villages, the population is counted in their hundreds and thousands unlike the population of cities, counted in their millions, I see more and more people using albeit starter kits, every day. Cities must be thriving with people "Making the Switch", and walking around with all sorts of Vaping gear, Mods etc. Talking of making the switch, link to an American site, Vapers Club, great video, on the top right of their Home Page. www.vapersclub.com/ a bit dated, but up to the minute News regarding Vaping in the USA, on their home page.

Hey, no worries @lynxcat I think that - once the dust has settled a bit - the main argument will be about the long-term impact - especially on the lungs. I don't think we need to worry too much about nicotine, PG and VG, they all have substantial historical data; IMO it's the flavourings that will generate most concern, and where more investigation and regulation will (rightly) be needed. Just one example, a recent thread contained a whole list of flavours from one maker which contain oil. This I find very disturbing, and I do wonder what other delights we unknowingly heat and inhale, often on a daily basis. It's one thing to bung them in cake mix, bake them at 200 degrees and then eat them, (a lot of our flavourings seem to originate in food-type additives) but it's quite another to heat them to what, 600 degrees or so, and then inhale them. Having said this, I still feel (note, I'm not saying I know!) that 30 months of vaping has had a major positive impact on my general health - I haven't felt better for years - and I have absolutely no intention of EVER returning to cancer sticks. My two penn'orth.

I just found his contact page and emailed him Just saw your piece online about e-cigs and the FDA. On behalf of my fellow vapers in the US and across the globe, THANKYOU.
This really matters. Yes, this is about harm reduction and maybe you think I don't know much about that being in the UK (don't mention the TPD....EU trying to restrict e-cigs)but I have been vaping for 3 years and it has made a huge difference to my life
My skin looks better. My chest is better. It costs the government very little. I don't stink of the results of smoking 1oz/25g of tobacco a day. Life is better.
Yes technology even in those 3 years has advanced sooooo much. Back then it was the choice of a 'cigalike' (rubbish battery life, rubbish most things actually) which is what the FDA are proposing to restrict e-cigs too, or a small mechanical mod (still not fab battery life but never mind). Cartos (cartridges) had just come in so I would begin my day filling at least 6 cartridges with e-liquid and organising them in bags for the day.
Now we have so much more choice. Variable power device; tanks (don't go there about building carto tanks 3 years ago. I soon learnt about nic overdosing); rebuildable this, that and the other. All of which the FDA are trying to restrict. Thousands of small businesses right across America and indeed the world rely on this new form of harm reduction so the FDA proposals have profound direct and indirect consequences.
So with all this in mind from one wee presbyterian lassie here in Scotland I salute you.....and I will pray for you as well Senator Burr...
Once again
THANKYOU!!!!!!I suggest others do the same
