After months of problems and unreliability with internet speeds I said no more and transferred off BT copper to fibre optic. Ditched the phone (Don't need it with mobiles)!
This is more like it during peak times. And cheaper!! Clearly there was a problem before. see before (copper) and after (fibre optic):

We have 5 mobiles amongst us in my home. I regularly make calls abroad and spend hours on the phone for free off my mobile connected via Viber or Tango. The only reason I had the house phone was you have to for copper line internet. That's saved me 11-14 notes a week. I get up to 152 mb down speed. I can't believe I put up with it for so long!

Had the choice of fibre for years. Don't know why I didn't change sooner. Cost me nothing to change and install The monthly cost is cheaper

The thing is that a whole load more people use FB than skype, its easy Clivia as long as you have a smart phone of course bring up your contacts (within FB), green dot means they're on-line, bring up the person you want to chat to, if they have a smartphone you will get a 'telephone symbol at the top, thats where you do it, obviously if you're both on wifi its totally free. Send me a friend requestand I'll talk you through it later **edit** dont worry, I've found you and sent a FR to you

I want to get Fibre. Trouble is, our phone line comes in over-ground through trees and stuff. Presumably, I'd only get the Fibre speed as far as the green box at the end of my road. then, it's copper snail from there on?

Openreach are blowing fibre in my area now, Infinity is due next month. I've had my name on the list for 3 months now so fingers crossed eh?
Ironically before I lived here I was in Rotherham, with 100Mb Virgin broadband. So I lost out for a few years.
Copper from the box to the house is ten times better than copper from the exchange. Happy days!!
