Come to the vape meet tomorrow in York and get a hand coiling the protank would be my suggestion. Next one might be a viable option! Think im gonna have a go at doing the protank myself, i think the coil in it silicone cap.thing is a bit loose/worn anything i can do or add to it to tighten it a bit if needs be? Not got a multimeter, and prob wont have when i need to test it. Is this a really bad decision?

hm - without knowing what kanthal it is - it's a bit difficult - cause you would need to try - specially if you have no mod that tells you the ohm - any chance that you are in Leeds next week - could make you a couple of coils

So just done a real deep clean on the evod coil after using cocunut and chocolatemint. There was alot of black gunk, like a ball of it (carbon? Unburnt juice? Sugar residue?) sround the coil. After a lot of blowing, rinsing and dry burning till glowing orange (4-5 seconds) i got it back to a semi-respectable coil, i can at least see the wraps and they are no longer black but a mottled grey. Heres the thing thats bothering me. I can only see one coil, will the other coil be clean (evod glass dual coil), and also is this the correct procedure for cleaning a coil? Any other tips? Not got around to recoilling the pt2, gonnanwait till i get a multimeter

Did you replace the flavour wick/s that sit on top of the coil when you removed/replaced the chimney and did you replace the sillicone cap that fits on to the chimney too?

Replaced the silicone cap yes. But flavour wicks? What is that?
I did notice some silica wick in the sink when i had finished cleaning. Have i washed something away that i wasn't meant too?

jackcustard flavour wicks are 2 or 3 short strands of wick that sit on top of the coil before you put the chimney on the atty they soak up the juice filling the gaps & its stops leaks/gurgling.

jackcustard What dinamic22 said. There would be the problem. Maybe get some 1mm silica wick HERE and place a little under the chimney, cut to fit the coil and replace the chimney and silicone cap. To be honest I did the same thing with my Protank 2 coil when I first washed it, I lost the flavour wicks and didn't realise, it was gurgle and leak city. Luckily they were single coils so are now microcoiled.

I have some spare silica wick, doni literally just put it on top of the coil? Will it not affect the coil?
Do i want to cut it so it is sticking out or do i cut it so it fits in the actual head, not sticking out of the two slits?

Hi cut it so it fits the actual head not sticking out and you only need a couple of the strands

Right so cut to size, pull 3-4 strands off and just lay them on top of the.coil?

jackcustard try just 2 strands first & then if it still gurgles or leaks add another strand, its a long time since i used these sort of wicks but i think its 2 just laid over the coil then fit chimney, give it time for the juice to soak in then it should be fine. When you get something to check your ohms with you would be much better following Super Shinys microcoil & cotton wool guide the vape & flavour is totally different than with silica wicks & you won't need flavour wicks then.
