Updated first post with some pictures as i had some spare time to mess around with the mod. Really chuffed with the cut-out for the display and USB considering it was done with needle files.....ain't got a clue why the USB hole looks like it's got a little nick on the left side, cant see that when i hold it, damm camera has a mind of it's own. Two things i ain't sure with now is: Do i put a 2mm thick window inside the display cut-out so it is flush with the box or do i put a 1mm thick window inside the box, with it being inside the box would be the easiest way as i don't have to make a perfect fit but it will make the display recessed? Do i go for powder coated or anodised? anyone know what is best not just for toughness but also for ranges of colours to choose from Powder CoatingAnodizing Help me choose VapingBad piper1 Greigster blakey

I think the 1mm on the inside would be a lot easier. If you try and make the 2mm. flush with the outside of the case, it will need to be spot on........what with your OCD an all. I love anodized, no probs with chipping paint. Hard choices Jase.......only you can decide Neil

Have your tried Hydrographics? Nice but not for me, i am looking for maybe a plain aluminium colour look, but something that does not tarnish, think the only way i will get that is to go down the anodised route. Plus i want the professionals to coat it not me, can't be arsed to coat things anymore

Me.....OCD.......Never Yeah i got a feeling getting the protective cover flush is going to be a massive PITA, i will try both though to see what happens, never give up as they say. Just gotta get my head around how tough anodised is compared too powder coated.

I looking nice and neat, those boys with their milling machines just have it to easy. I would do the 1 mm inside, just imaging doing the flush screen 99 % of the way there taken ages and opps the file slipped . Don't know about the finish but Bish on UKV made some nice ones with Hydrographics, have no idea how hard wearing it is. I would probably do silver anodised for myself as I would scratch it a lot and it wouldn't notice as much.

Lucky sods, lucky it is my last build, if it was not i would invest in one of those milling machines, took me ages as no matter how much i looked at the cut-out i found problems so it took many hours getting it right, and then once it got it right i thought "Hang on" the coating is going to make the cut-out smaller by a fraction......so out come the needle files again to take another shaving off, same with all the other cut-outs I would do the 1 mm inside, just imaging doing the flush screen 99 % of the way there taken ages and opps the file slipped . I will try both options and see what is bestDon't know about the finish but Bish on UKV made some nice ones with Hydrographics, have no idea how hard wearing it is. Sod the blood price, needle files and some good old grafting does the job, plus it's more shall i say unique knowing each stroke of the file is your own making of things
