Think i am going to get it powder coated as the company i phoned today said to anodize it would cost me £65.00 minimum £65 I need to have a sit down and a fag I`m so shocked Thats just nutty. Most anodisers won`t do any prep work ether. If it didn`t look like cast I would offer to do it for free but mystery ally is just too much of a guess . Powder coating sounds like a safer bet. Just remember to plug up your screw holes

Super-ShinyAs I thought Die cast , Trust me avoid anodising Its a really bad plan Thanks m8, any suggestions/tips i should tell the powder coaters before coating, don't fancy getting it back to find it's all ruined and i cannot fit the parts into it. Also i read somewhere there is all kinds of versions of powder coatings?

Super-ShinyIve never tried powder coating , My mate bought a diy kit and has had little trouble and shown me some nice finished parts. I plan on getting my car wheels powder coated and the coaters do all the prep work and its not expensive. Just put some screws in the screw holes or be prepared to run a tap down them after coating as it will bung the threads up a bit I like anodizing things as I faff in my shed quite a lot with ally and anodising is a nice finishing touch . I also like all the pretty colours

Super-ShinyNo prob I`ll keep an eye out for the pics when its done If you ever get stuck for a bit of anodising sling me a pm, I can always chuck em in my tank when I do a run . 6*** allys work best for nice bright colours 2*** and 7*** don`t always come out as nice.

Will do Cousin Itt I am quite looking forward to see what these powder coaters have to offer as they told me on the phone the choice of colours is massive, just hope they can do something close to a brushed steel colour or something that resembles it. They also said they can do a protective screen on it for scratches

Updated the first post a bit.......... Decided not to get it powder coated, the coaters just take the pi$$ with costs starting with the minimum costs and adding extra costs as they go along so i am doing my own coating which is: 1 x Coat of self etching primer which is acid based for the best adhesion (this bit is done with the latest picture) 3 x Coats of high build primer 5 x Coats of satin black colour spray 4 x Coats of satin lacquer Also what swayed me with not having powder coated is the fact that i look after my mods so i don't think i will get any problems with the coating, and as it is for my own use so even better

It is happen as well you didn't take it in for powder coating as they would have told you that you cannot powder over paint/ primer.

looking good quick thing on paint you can get plastisizer for spray paint when painting car bumpers ect which basically stops the paint from fully hardening allowing more flex and less chance of chipping although it is a trade off as its slightly easier to scratch just a thought for if you ever want to repaint your baby or your mod lol
