You can check the resistances with your multimeter just now, before you even build it in. But short checking you will have to build it up into the atty, stick it on a battery, and attempt to fire it. You can get one of these : www.fasttech.com/products/1533300 for doing your resistance checking though. Can probably get in the UK somewhere though and save the waiting. Will be a little more expensive probably though. As for mods, I have a Vamo and a SID, and both work well in both 18350 and 18650 modes. The SVD is also a good choice, so worth considering. They seem to be the 3 most popular, relatively cheap, VW regulated mods capable of multiple configurations. There are no doubt others, but any of them should perform pretty well for you to compare against the MVP. I still recommend just getting a MVP though. They are so good at what they do, that really, every vaper should have one. Even if it's just for an out and about mod. I know I'm certainly more likely to take my MVP out with me than any other mod I own. And use my Vamo / SID / Nucleic in the house. The main key with vaping is back-ups. So that means back-up batteries, Mods, Atties and juice. So you will likely need more than one mod anyway. So if you have to get two, one might as well be an MVP, as you don't need extra batteries or chargers, making it a cheaper place to start, while you assess what tube mod you want.

+1 on what xs2man says on all points. I have the svd as well as the vtr. I use the svd at home and put the vtr in my pocket when out and about. I will say though the svd is know to be rather fragile.

Hi Montana. Have a look at the Sigelei Zmax. It's telescopic, so can be used in 18350, 18500 and 18650 without having to worry about having extra tubes. Features are the same as the Vamo, but it's a single button control (which I prefer as I change the power by accident all the time with the Vamo) and the build quality is a little better. It's slightly shorter than the Vamo but a little heavier in 18350 mode. I love them so much I have 4 (back ups for my back ups). A V5 full kit here for £54.99 which includes batteries and charger to get you started. If you don't need the full kit and aren't in a hurry, Fasttech have the body only (V3 but with removable top cap) for less than £25

Montana..... You can get a cheap (about £12) resistance meter from cloud 9 - www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/epages/yxve46fvrnud.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/yxve46fvrnud/Products/C72-13 (oops sorry it's £17 but you really don't want the usb powered one) Or fast tech www.fasttech.com/search?ohm%20meter(make sure you get the battery ones). I find the fast tech ones don't last me long but worth having in the protank II is a very good choice. I've had mine for ages and only recently just upgraded to a Kayfun (though still use my protank/davide - same thing - a lot) Can't advise re mods..... I'm a magneto girl because they just work regardless though initial outlay won't be cheap (£50+ by the time you have a battery charger etc. etc). Might be worth getting that MVP2.0 though I can't advise on cylindrical mods Jane

just to clear up a few point from my point of view ill prob get shot for this but hay ho if you get a mech mod ie Nemesis ect AND a kick (which is a small circuit board you put on top of your batt) im pretty sure its as safe as any vv/vw mod yer not as daft as you look a multimeter will check for ohms and a short it will ether give you a reading showing what resistance your coil is or a zero or v near zero reading if you have a short but to be safe and save hassle check the head out of the attie then when you happy with what resistance you got build the attie up minus juice and retest i personally would not use stacked batts in a vamo as for what diff the resistance of the coil makes the lower is is normally means more of vapor, throat hit, warmer vape and less batt life as well as wicking probs ie it might not keep up hope that kinda helps the zmax seems to be a well liked mod and i must admit to accidentally adjusting to power on the vamo nearly every time i pick it up and unlike the mpv when the batts reach the end of there lifes the mod can still live on oh and in my opinion looks better that the square box of the mpv
