Q - I will guarantee that once you have tried a Kayfun, you will be hard pressed to go back to anything else. Setup correctly, with a good coil and cotton wool wick, the flavour is just so much fuller and rounded than anything else that I have tried. And personally speaking, for every instance of leaking or gurgling I have had 15 or 20 hassle-free vapes. The great thing of course is that you are in totally charge of the atomising area; if it wicks badly, or too much, if the coil gunks up or shorts out (all of which are rare once you have approached the top of the learning curve), then you know exactly what to do to sort the problem. I think this is why so many people are attracted to the rewicking/recoiling area of vaping - so that they have some control over the quality of their vape. I'm not by any means a technically minded person, but even I have doscovered that I can build a coil to the correct specification, at the correct ohm reading, and install it to give a great vape. If I can do it, anyone can!!

Agreed chykensa but there are far simpler RBAs around, I'm still VERY new to this but I love my Squape, its easy to build, easy to fill, doesn't leak (yet) and gives a great vape, why would I need anything else? (I'll probably still buy others cos that's shinyitis for you)

I only use Kayfuns now (apart from the odd vape on a Taifun GT) & I've never had any problems wicking or filling...........1 x length of 2mm silica (10mm long)......a shorter 2mm length (3mm long) & wrap the 2 together with 0.20 kanthal using 4 wraps, which will give around 2 ohms (put the shorter length in the middle of the longer length)........fix to atty terminals.......trim shorter length back to the width of the coil........loop the longer length down each side of the channels........point the ends up & screw on the funnel........coil the 2 ends around the inside of the funnel & press lightly down, trimming off any excess (the navy coil method)........wet the wick & screw on top cap..........fill from filler hole with a 30 ml juice bottle with ordinary fill dripper.................That's it.....Wicked, coiled, filled & vaping in around 3 minutes.....Perfect vape every time...............Never had a leak or dry hit............................

I am working on this. I am getting lost on the bit... 1 x length of 2mm silica... Other than that, I'm going great guns.

I use 2 lengths of 2mm silica djs.........1 of 10mm length & the other 3mm length.......I then wrap the coil around both, positioning the shorter length in the middle of the longer one.

I use 2 lengths of 2mm silica djs.........1 of 10mm length & the other 3mm length.......I then wrap the coil around both, positioning the shorter length in the middle of the longer one. I think I understand it. Basically a "two x 2mm wick" (4mm) with a hand wound coil, but the double wick is only for the bit through the coil. I have to say, I like the sound of it. Do you drape the (wet) wick down directly to the juice channels, or bend it back on itself? I REALLY want to get going with Silica on my Kayfun builds... call me mad ( ??? ) but I find cotton a bit disturbing when using a tank I can't see through. - - - Shall I crack out a new Kayfun from the box in the kitchen that says "Lawnmower spares"..... ?

djs..........watch this video.........it's slightly different to the way I do it, insofar as he joins the 2 strands of wick, whereas I use a long & short length & coil then together.........but you'll get the idea of where the loops go into the channels & also looping the upright ends into the inside of the funnel.........He uses 3mm wick, but it works fine with 2mm.

chrisjwYou are a star! Thank you SO much. I am Mr visual when it comes to this stuff. I am SO trying this later. I always enjoy listening to Andrew. I wonder if soaking the wick first might make all the "nest" arrangement easier?

chrisjwI wonder if soaking the wick first might make all the "nest" arrangement easier? If you follow Andrews instruction, you shouldn't need to soak the wick as everything seems to hold together nicely.

I'll try it dry, but what's the betting the folded back bits on the deck just spring right up out of there? Thanks for the encouragement.

You'll be fine I'm sure. The nest is a good setup and a great vape but a micro coil an cotton will give better flavour.

Get all the wick in place first & then put 2 or 3 drops onto it before screwing the cap on..........It'll prevent initial dry hits.

Best way for me: For the 3.1,block the air hole and the fill valve hole with your fingers, fill from the top while holding your fingers on the holes, put the top on,screw the top half way through, turn the kayfun upside down, remove your fingers from the holes and tight the top in Same with the KFL

Check the o-rings @spikeyfridge, the Kayfun clone used to leak like billyo till I replaced a wonky looking o-ring and it hasn't leaked since.
