If you check the paperwork that came with the Zmax you will find under Batteries they advise not to use protected.

cHooBeyDoo I think its an error on tourchy's side because the pic is a protected Li-Ion but the description says unprotected. All Li-Ion are protected.
Edit: watsy is right, I just checked my SVD and VTR manual and both say to 'use IMR 18650 (without protection).'

Edit: watsy is right, I just checked my SVD and VTR manual and both say to 'use IMR 18650 (without protection).' My error in the first link I posted, he probably used the same picture but l have edited the first link I gave to the 'Unprotected' ones now which he does describe as 'Unprotected'

Kind of...... I thought I was buying unprotected, but (for reasons I won't go into here ) in my own haste and confusion I ended up buying the protected version instead. I had both the protected AND unprotected versions saved in my Ebay watch list and clicked to buy the protected by mistake, which lead me to link the protected version in the first place. Not the sellers fault, mine alone.
