Went to post my mate a little bottle of juice today, they said "for security reasons" they had to ask what was in my parcel. I told them it was ejuice and the woman ran off for a minute, when she returned she told me I had to open it and if it had a toxic symbol on then she would not allow it in the post. (List of banned items here www.postoffice.co.uk/prohibited-goods-uk). Luckily I had used an old concentrate bottle so just laughed as she looked in vain for a toxic symbol, just thought a heads up would be useful to peeps.

The muppet is just obeying the law Chris. The law prohibits the sending of toxic substances, not a label on the bottle.

Not sure if we have to actually tell them or if we could just say it's nothing on the prohibited list ? If it's batteries tell them it's a sex toy ! Should stop them in their tracks

This is starting to really piss me off. As far as I'm concerned, the mail has always been personal and protected. We were brought up never to open someone else's mail, and it is (was) an offence to hinder the mail.
The Post Office staff have no right under the law to ask you what is in your parcel. They do have the right to establish that it doesn't contain prohibited items. So when they ask me "what's in your parcel?" I just reply "nothing on the prohibited list" and they seem to just snarl and accept that.

You know those signs you sometimes see in shops or bars that say - please don't ask for credit as a refusal sometimes offends? I'm going to stick labels on my parcels saying please don't ask what's inside as feck off might cause offence.

So just a thought how dose the venders go on then when sending juice out via Royal mail. Just wondering. Also I had some batteries delivered the other day via Royal mail and it had a sticker on to say batteries do not deliver if damaged is this just a getting extra money for royal mail so if you send juice or batteries they charge extra.

I always say 'food flavouring' when sending juice as its not actually a lie --- just an omission to other ingredients

I've been getting asked alot lately about what's in my packets too (fnarr fnarr), they show me the card and ask if there is anything on the list, I say no and they still ask me what's inside! I know they are only asking for safety reasons but when you say there's nothing on the list they shouldn't be so nosy and still ask what's inside. Next time I might just say 'Sex aids' then watch their face turn a nice shade of red
