lets be honest, they are all made to a price. As to getting from FT, chances are it would be the same maker any way. As to the switch, just do a little work on it and you will be suprised, magnets, filling the pin channel and lubing the switch post with graphite works wonders. It's a totally different to one from FT. I have one of those as well. I already did the pin and magnets, still rubbish, it's a terrible quality mod. Perhaps I got a second, although the fact it has different threading would make me think not. It is being made to a price but as I said for a tiny but more a much superior product can be had from FT. I'm thinking you have been unlucky, I have had 4 from focal and all are sweet as a nut after a little work. Sounds like you may have a "friday afternoon " jobbie

Mine's here as well, ordered 5 Jul 2014 01:20 BST, arrived 16 July 2014 10:15 BST 11 days and 9 hours and that includes 2 weekends, cant get better service than that FoclecigCan someone explain the magnetic switch to me please, should it repel FROM the battery (my guess) or attract? Mine has arrived in the 'attract' state but I'm guessing that is for shipping safety to stop it bashing around

Magnets will only repel an opposing magnet. There's no magnet in the battery Now, about my own imprint - I thought "interesting design - gravity holds the button which is attached to the magnet). The black Derlin ring with the magnet in the middle will slide off - turn it upsidedown and attach it to the battery negative. Now place the button into the tube. Have a bit of a discussion with it and then it will locate correctly. And enjoy the amazingly short throw. What do you think of the threading on the top cap?

Now that my brain is back in place.... I've given it 10 minutes but I cant get it to fire, and there's not enough thread on the top cap to allow any atty to fit flush... or perhaps I'm STILL doing something wrong. Anyway work calls, try again later

Well, I've just gone through a bit of a hoo-haa myself (how do you write that)... Talking ONLY about the top cap here (worth highlighting as I'll use the word button)
Since my last post I found myself thinking - can this become a hybrid (I noticed whilst the Expromizer seemed to fit flush, my KF's wouldn't come close to sitting flush... I removed the (err, sort of, sort of self removed) the button set into the Derlin on the top cap and played - the problem with the KF's was the threading in the Derlin, I think (really not sure) I took it apart (nice Hybrid without the Derlin insulator - need to think as to whether or not I trust it) and when I came to reassemble I had a rare old time - without talking about Marigolds to remove the Derlin and the risk of cross threading the button (oh wait - I just did talk about...) allow the Derlin to sit fairly loosely and ensure the button has it's nipple pointing DOWNWARDS - there is a screw slot on the top of the button (although it's very shallow) ... - Good luck getting the button in square.
To describe mine: The Kayfun sits flush, the Derlin is just attached (first half turn, I guess) to the top cap and the button is perhaps half a turn into the Derlin... Throw is around 1 mm and it works... Be warned though, the bottom button appears to sit very slightly askew of the lock ridge in the tube meaning that one edge is just below the base of the tube... this means, if you place the 49 on a flat surface and press down, it will fire. I haven't tried it with something heavy like a full Squape yet so I don't know if it will beat the magnet and autofire.
Can't decide if I'm happy with this mod or not.
But I do know I've been playing with it for an hour when I should be playing with the flashing on the flat roof of the dinning room extension (beware cowboys who hold the felt in with poor mortar - grrr grrr grrr)

I'm having a few doubts about it myself Did you notice that they do an upgraded button & top cap, or is that what we've got already?

i dont no what peoples issues are but have read a few posts but i got confused, what i think you need to to is take the top cap off the 4nine screw the top cap onto the attty. the 510 of the atty needs to be petruding enough from the top cap then screw the top cap with the atty attatched onto the tube. i dont have a 4nine but have wanted one since they 1st come out, so done i bit of research as i had herd about it shorting batterys. the main issues i have seen is the attys 510 dusnt poke out enough from the top cap. sorry if this has already been said, and if anyone isnt keen on theres i would be up for a trade

The biggest issue (to me) is the lack of metal in the top cap, it is SO thin, if I screw an atty into it before attaching to the mod it protrudes so far down that the switch doesn't have ANY throw, and the atty STILL sits proud of the mod.

Q Get a thinner magnet for the bottom of your battery . Its also essential the the positive pin on the atty is protruding past the 510 thread to avoid shorting. If the top cap wasn`t very thin most attys wouldn`t have enough thread length to contact the battery. If your atty compresses the battery so far down there is no switch movement at all your atty should constantly fire ?
