Just look at this folks from DP (he told me to share) Thought this might be of interest and you might want to share it with fellow vapers through your network. As you know there’s been some concern about the quality of some of the e-cigarettes and this guidance follows experience of several small fires caused by faulty e-cig chargers. This NHS guidance relates to the risks from e-cigs being used while people are getting oxygen therapy. I suppose it possible that quite a lot of patients getting oxygen might be former smokers and could conceivably by e-cig users. The risk is outlined here: www.dhsspsni.gov.uk/efa-2014-002.pdf Sounds potentially very serious and the sort of information that should be shared with vapers. Cheers

this was my response
To be quite honest we hear of this all the time. Doesn't worry me apart from not being able to charge my e-cigs in RCH.
Iphones and laptops have the same/similar batteries as e-cigs. Maybe you should ban those being recharged on the premises as well....
You and I are on different sides of the fence LOL...that's all
I will let my fellow vapers know but I suspect their response will be similar

May I also congratulate DP on winning the wind up wars (had just informed him of cameron's new shop opening soon ). This just only goes to further prove my point. Taking on the NHS is a no no....Unless it's low level and involves cake (bake for the opposite shift you have the issue with) That is the only way

I remember a program that Sir Gerry Robinson did, about reducing the waiting time for surgery in a particular hospital, they went through weeks of consultation and changing things slowly but surely , then when it was proven to be working they decided to come up with some BS reason why they couldn't carry on.
The fact that they had ALL been made to look stupid and totally inept at their jobs , and then decide to shut up shop and close the doors on Sir Gerry was a total disgrace , it just goes to show what a lot of the NHS is about. It's long overdue for a clearout and forward thinking and NON-money grabbing low lives to take control. If the NHS was a business it would have been bankrupt back in the 1980's. Personally I'm between a rock and a hard place , I have family that work and work hard in the NHS , BUT and this is a big BUT , but my wife has been treated so badly and has received P**s poor consultants on more than one occasion and cancelled operations and the last one only a couple of weeks ago was the anaesthesiologist mess up , which has left my wife having being scared of going back to hospital which she has to , to have the operation that didn't go through.
Sorry about the rant , the second of this hour so far, but certain things make my blood boil.

another reason I bought the xtar mp2 charger (which is minuscule) as I have a 8400 external power pack, it can run off. If I get stuffed in hospital anytime soon. I'm primed!

just get the other half or your friends to charge ya batteries for you and bring them to you at visiting time .......SORTED VAPE ON That is the easiest option, but it has got me thinking.
The first time I saw someone charging a mobile phone on the power socket next to their bed in hospital I was gobsmacked. Many years ago I was in hospital for a long long time, and I had a private room, but my Walkman ( told you it was a long time ago lol ), had to be safety checked, as did anything else electrical brought in for me.
So back to not too long ago, seeing someone on a shared ward with a charger plugged in, I was shocked. Still you can it seems lay in bed even if only there overnight charging up mobiles, laptops, ipads etc.
As @johanino says, what is the difference then??
I'm not talking about using them, but the actual charging.

I've emailed DP again because this is a blanket ban. It applies to cheap rip off egos (that can be a fire hazard) as well as 18650s. Now if he were to ban 18650's being charged (or any mod battery) then they should also be banning laptops. If they are just banning egos - I have nothing to worry about

I remember in one job I was in that I had to have my Cona type coffee machine checked by the companies electricians and passed for use before I could use it. So these safety rules are not just in the NHS. I can understand their worries and the suggestion by tracerace1 is probably the best way forward

PAT testing is normally compulsory in organisations, non-tested kit is only normally run via an isolating transformer or from designated sockets on a different ring main..

DP emailed me back. He said all my 'vaping network' should know about this in case any were on oxygen therapy.... Hmmm..... I mentioned the 'ban'. He said it was 'just guidance and yet to be implemented' I feel persecuted

There is usually a sign in most hospital wards to say all equipment needs to be safety checked first except no one abides by it

I work for nhs and we've been told were not allowed to charge ecigs at work due to the risk of explosion. The only reference I could find to an ecig exploding with someone on oxygen therapy turned out to be due to the woman trying to light an ecig with a cigarette lighter..... Ffs

My Mum has dementia and has been in hospital recently, she could charge her mobile no issue. My Dad had a minor heart attack just before Christmas, took his laptop in, with charger, no problem. What the f--k is the problem with the proper charger for an e CIG?
