You can add a couple of washers and a spring to help keep the coil tight, not really needed the first one I posted works very well. It maybe just because this was the only spring I had handy, could do with a longer softer spring. The point is that its easy to put something together that works well.

I knocked up a rough Version All I can say is it's like one of them fancy kitchen gadgets, looks brilliant, the person demonstrating makes it look a breeze but when you get it home its another story. I found it harder to make nice tight coils than just using a drill or mandrel. I tried it, don't like it & it looked so good in video

I fine it easier turning the centre then you can leave the wire on the spool I hold the spool between your knees to create the tension. YMMV

I'm sure they are a great idea, but if I'd seen that instead of reading Super-Shiny guide, I'd most likely still be buying coils, not making them. My efforts are probably nowhere near as good, but they work and are fairly quick and easy to do, using the few basic 'tools' I've got. Didn't know you were supposed to tension the wire while blasting it with the blowtorch before coiling ........I predict burnt fingers for me these gadgets look very complicated, I'm not very mechanically minded

i have just bought one of these COILING-GIZMO-WITH-CLAMP-5-SPINDLE-/on ebay only £8.35 hopefully it will make coiling a lot easier but i find using the mandrel a piece of pi** to use, i read up about making my own coils about six months into my vaping journey and thought that looks hard and didn`t bother lol only about 5 weeks ago i started making my own coils and i cant believe how easy it is if you got the right tools for the job

Nice. I'll have to check out the videos later. I've made a few failed attempts at coiling. I don't think my hands are nimble enough to do it. This may make things easier.
