Sounds like the same set up as me. .3 kanthal always between 1.2 - 1.4 ohms although I use cotton wool as I'm not a fan of Rico cotton either. Used dessert, fruits , aniseed and tobacco type juices and personally cannot tell the difference in experience. My fragile ceramic cup broke for no apparent reason and because I wasn't overly impressed with the rose didn't see the point in forking out £15 for a new one. Still use it without the cup and again cannot personally notice any significant difference with or without it.

Just goes to show it's more horses for courses than type of juice or not setting it up properly imo.

Sounds like a squape reloaded would be more up your street.

I have never had an issue with the ceramic on my rose, it's not got so much as a crack in it and it's used every day. If you're going to vapefest then you'll pick up the ceramics for about a fiver.
Cotton wool for me tends to strip flavour from my cocomel, infact it works best with silica wick but this cotton lace is just so convenient when it comes to changing out the wick and sits nicely in between cotton wool and silica for flavour.
Every attie handles different juice in different ways though and personal taste plays a large part also
This rose is as good as it gets for cocomel, vanilla fudge on the other hand was good in it but not as good as it is in the squape. The squape seems to be more versatile in its ability to handle different flavours.

I have 2 Squapes (not reloaded) original and clone and although they are good (better than the Rose imo) I still prefer the Kayfun & Taifun.

The ceramic cup breaking of it's own accord isn't an issue only experienced by myself. In fact this issue was why they originally had to sell spare cups because it happened to quite a few of the original purchasers. Just for the record I've had my Rose from the first list, so it's not like I've been playing around with it for 5 minutes.

I find cotton wool gives more flavour than the the Rico cotton, in fact I get an funny taste when using Rico cotton that's not there with cotton wool. Also find silica has a weird taste now too after using cotton wool.

In fairness I wasn't that big a fan of the Kayfun either as I found the vape from it very dry until I started using micro coils and cotton wool.

Loving the Heron clone at the minute as well, another I'd rate above the Rose.

What I am getting at is just because someone says this, that or the other is better does not make it so. Just because it is better for them does not mean it's better for everyone else. I've tried and tried to like the rose considering the money I paid for it and I wouldn't say it's a bad atty in the slightest but I would say I can buy just as good if not better for a lot less for my preferences.

Cocomel on order for a comparison test.

Edit to add: I do not disagree that different atties will make a juice taste different. There are loads of aspects that can effect juice flavour. Even something simple like changing a drip tip can increase or decrease flavour.

Tried that, still prefer the Kayfun. What else am I doing wrong or could it just be not everybody has the same preferences?

Have tried changing the height of the coil. The further away from the air hole the harsher the throat hit.
