Oh so it has to be someone from inside? Except for those ATMs. I'm always wary of them.
Good of tesco to write you a confirmation. I've never had checks done. My bank must reckon FastTech is a relative or regular creditor (which it is lol)

Yep, the easy bit is getting the hardware and fitting it to the machine. It's much more of a job to decrypt and copy though.
I always give an ATM a good inspection and feel around to see if anything is out of place or visible before I use one.

My daughter in London paid for drinks in a bar with her credit card...within minutes her account was emptied. These guys had some gadget that read her card as she paid. They went to the ' hole in the wall ' round the corner & withdrew the money. As soon as she realised ( next day ) she contacted the bank immediately & called the police. Luckily there was CCTV, & everything was caught on camera, including the time, which showed that they had withdrawn her money within 10 minutes of her paying for the round of drinks ! The police knew of these guys, but no arrest was made. The good news is, her bank re-instated all her money...Scary though

Had a scam done to me about 8 years ago for about 6k, someone in China went on a spending spree on my Morgan Stanley card and bought loads of electronic gear, tv's you name it.
The only reason i found out was because Morgan Stanley phoned me asking about the purchases and i was like "WTF are you on about"....they very quickly resolved the problem.
It's a pain but it's also good to know that the banks will sort it out for you m8 in some way or another.

sorry your going through this identity theft is awful make sure you shed all personal docs in the future, as people rummage through bins to get details. on another note he'd have to be a total idiot to use his own account unless its with false name and address otherwise he will be caught pretty quickly hopefully he is enough of a dumb ass to use his own account

By all accounts my area was targeted. I had a loan with tesco bank 15 years ago so my details were on record and it seems that these fraudsters got my date of birth wrong which triggered alarm bells. My bank had no part in it at all. I've had problems with mail going AWOL for some time now which is why any purchases I make get sent to work. As stated a page back, chop their hands off at the Adams apple

a few months ago one sunday afternoon while shopping at tesco the day before they had found that in both their cashpoints outside someone had been cloning cards with a camera system,
Because we did not know if they got our details we had to cancel my hubby's card because he had used it on the Saturday, luckily this time we didn't have the card cloned but it's so easily done.
I've had theft of money from my bank account while shopping online took ages to get back
and my hubby's mother (rip) had 2k taken from her bank account a year before she passed away by someone doing the same as what happened to you it's so common, yet more things need to be in place i think to stop it all from happening, hubby now takes important info into work to shred rather than do it on our one at home, it's then incinerated rather than just thrown away.
there are some nasty people out there.

The banks are the worse offenders for this, I was with Halifax and kept getting constant calls in the afternoon trying to "give" me a credit card, I told them that as I work strange hours this had to stop, so then they weekly sent me junk mail offering credit card, with all the details needed pre-filled for me, if thats not a security risk I dont know what is. End result I had to shut the account. Seems to me banks like to give fraudsters a chance, must be an earner, and dont start me about paypal lol.

TSB sent me a letter today informing me that they were closing down an account with them that I knew nothing about Same account number as the tesco bank loan was paid into Now I've had to convince them that it was a fraudulent account and referred them to tesco bank- do these people not communicate Apparently this account was opened on line so that means all correspondence and anything that needed a signature would have to have been intercepted which means that it was either a post office worker or someone from the post office was paid to filter the correct letters Now I'm going to have the mother of all nightmares should I want to change bank accounts or open another, plus It's going to be a nightmare trying to get things on credit anywhere I just hope that the police can catch these scum and put them away with all the other scum!

My wife and I got robbed the other side of Barcelona, we stopped at the services and had one of our tyres knifed and while we changing the tyre a good Samaritan offered to help us ,we said we were ok and when my wife got in the car he had taken her bag containing £1500 cash, passports, credit cards, mobiles, personal papers etc. and while he was talking to us in broken English we explained my wife was having a medical procedure that we could not wait or indeed afford in the uk, he left us with not even enough for a bottle of water, we even had to get taken of the motorway by the police because we couldn't pay the toll charge. These scum will kill you if they have to, but banks and embassy's are the biggest thieves,£279 for a one use passport and £140 in bank charges. That was in January and still getting hassle now. Still at least my Taifun's not leaking lol
