Actually lots on ebay are countersunk, haven't found exact size though, seems Cousin Itt has been looking too

Team work Greg can`t see a 3mm hole being a prob .

I think 3mm would be fine. On mine the screw and 2mm magnet hole are quite snug but given the countersink this would prevent movement once nipped up even with a 3mm hole. Only thing I'm not sure on is whether countersink needs to be on north or South Pole and I don't have a compass ?

Can the opposing magnet be switched round ? if it can polarity won`t matter

If your using a plain magnet on battery yes you can flip it but not if you have the delrin spacer glued on by Ishy as if you flip the magnet is insulted rom the battery pole

So I'm thinking the countersunk needs to North Pole, did the balancing on edge on a glass table and the countersink side points north

I have a pack of these magnets jackcustard These are the ones couter sunk magnets they match exactly, I needed to source some after I had a short and it messed up the magnets that were on it. 

If you need one I can send you one of mine.

The other magnets that go on the battery are 15mmx1mm, I have 20 of those as well so im well stocked if my brain fails again.

Wrong magnet it's the one in the switch required, only option there is to buy a complete new switch
