Well done GV. By that logic as I need nothing done on this years MOT I've got £800 to spend, if only I could find it. (£800 for tyres and tracking, still makes me shudder a year later)

Breaks etc are not so bad for me as I can do them for myself, but can't do tyres and they were only Hankocks nothing fancy. I spose it serves my right for getting a BMW, the muggers wanted £300 for replacing the battery, I got the programming cable + software and a bigger battery (with 5 y wnt) for less than half that. Tyres, breaks, wipers, battery & service are running costs really.

went out shopping today when i come home i left my key in the frontdoor some little toe rag has pinched it, does anyone have a rough price or idea as how much it will cost to get the locks changed? its the upvc doors that you push the handle up and turn key to lock, then to open it you do the same, thanks Please, please don't skimp on the lock to replace the existing. A while back a warning went out on tv telling people to be aware of an big increase of lock snapping. I went out and got a very high quality/security lock to replace my existing back kitchen upvc door.
see below.

I had similar before. I shelled out about 80 notes from a local locksmith and fitted it myself. Its one of the high security ones from this company. www.evva.co.uk/products/mechanical-locking-systems/eps-locking-system/technology/en/Though I have been reliably told that a lot depends if a scum bag can actually get hold of the lock to twist it to snap it. Some protrude slightly I believe or have plastic covers . The one I have is high end but the key can't be copied without a passport or proper id and is flush to the door. With a good lever mechanism. A crook told me if they want to get in they will no matter what!!!

sorted it thanks to everyone for the help Do you want your key back now
Glad you got it sorted though. Makes no difference if its flush with the handle or not - if the toerags want to snap the lock to get in, and it is flush with the handle, they'll just york the handle off - its only held there by 2 screws into PVC. You can get euro locks that snap at a predetermined position, not allowing access to the tumblers, but apparently, that can be circumvented as well At the end of the day, if they want in, they'll get in. All we can do is make it more difficult for them to get in, than it is next door!
