Hello All, After some great advice from members too numerous to mention I've settled on a VTR with a stainless steel Aerotank as my rock solid, take to work kit. In the lexicon of every teenage gamer ever I am a total noob when it comes to vapeing let alone mods. This particular beast takes 18650 batteries which I have ordered two of with a charger to arrive along with it. My question is this, are there any safety considerations I need to bear in mind with this set up? Also note I have the memory of a goldfish that has recently sustained a massive head injury. I have no wish to end up like that tw@ on YouTube who holds his mod with a towel (*grumbles* toolbag) Super, Mega, Giga thanks to everyone who contributed to my heavy duty kit thread and helped me come to an informed decision and special thanks to hijack for bringing the safety considerations to the fore.

The VTR is perfectly safe to use as a noob gray. The electronics take care of everything like a short in the coil or the battery charge being to low. My safety advice was if you were looking into using a mechanical mod. The VTR is a tough Mod. Its only weakness is the threads which can wear out over time. A number of us use one of these 510-510 airflow and screw them on tight so they stay on when unscrewing the tank to save the threads wearing out.

The VTR has built in saftey features so you can use unprotected batteries with a great deal of confidence and it has minimum and maximum tolerances so you wont go far wrong. Just be sensible charging batteries, don't leave them overnight, while you go out or unnattended for long periods. Overall the VTR is regarded as a good solid piece of kit with no big safety issues, unless someone comes and corrects me I think you'll be very happy with your purchase.

P.S Make sure you get the standard size aerotank and not the Mega as the ring on the VTR is 19mm so anything bigger wont fit.

Regarding the threads on the VTR being weak and as you have a Aerotank fitted to it you can fill up the Aerotank without un-screwing it from the VTR which will give the threads much more longevity.
Just hold the VTR upside down and hold the base of the Aerotank and unscrew the body from the base and re-fill and then repeat the process the same way to put it back onto the base of the Aerotank.
You can also do this when changing the head.....the only time i ever take the Aerotank of the VTR is when i want to clean the Aerotank.

If you drop it on your foot you could lose a toe, it's gonna hurt a lot at the least.

Thanks for all the great advice guys I haven't actually got the blighter yet. It should arrive tomorrow all things being equal but our post is a bit iffy. Needless to say when it arrives I shall be posting pics on the show of your gear forum. Regarding the threading my Aerotank comes with an airflow ring in Stainless steel which I think will become a permanent addition to the mod. I actually used the chart @johanino suggested to pick my additional tank. I'm not sure who put it together but it's a great little resource so kudos if you read this. It's good to know that the VTR has in built safety features. I'm not as knowledgeable as I'd like to be regarding mod safety but if there is anywhere to find out I guess it's here. My mum sleedale and other half are both vapers too so expect more bleatings for help in the future. Cheers all

I think the aerotank airflow is part of the aerotank? What has been suggested is a separate thing, so you use those threads, not the ones on the device. What batteries did you order, gray? (Please don't say they end in -fire? eg trustfire, ultrafire, fandyfire, will-not-fire or catch-on-fire)

Hi fred yep just realised the difference between a 510 510 connector and the airflow control. I ordered an efest18650 from my epack with a charger. I saw a post warning people off batteries ending in fire. Seems to be a crap way of selling tubes of corrosive acid to label them with the word fire but then I'm not a marketing exec

my VTR is fussy when it comes to batteries. I order from myepack - myepack.co.uk/batteries/sony-us-18650-vtc4-2100mah-battery.htmlI had an ebay seller for VTR batteries but can't find him ( because he was good:)) So if you get any grief from your batteries not fitting this is what to go for. (sorry I forgot earlier) Jane
