I seem to have lost options in the forum. I can't see the "select" "actions" or "search" options shown in your pic above. I also seem to be missing some posting options, like to option to change to BBCode. I also default to post one when I click a thread, when before it went automatically to first unread post. I didn't change anything to cause this, I think.

I 'm using the latest firefox on vista. I've tried changing the settings in things like "do not track" & cookies etc but no joy yet. I even logged out and in again, just in case.
My firefox may have updated and caused this change.

FF 31.0 on Win7 x64 working just dandy. So is chrome. Have you changed any privacy settings in ff. Do you have the problem in IE? Reset FirefoxClear cookies and cache as I notice you just passed 100 posts. Logout before trying the above three sugestions. I'm 100% sure if you install chrome that will get you out of this. Probably either a bad setting in FF or a conflict between FF and Vista (damn she's an old lady now)

I was hoping not to have to reset firefox, I use tons of greasemonkey scripts that I'd rather not have to disable one by one. aaargh. I clear the cache on exit every time. I'll check out the cookie content.
Thanks for the help. I may have to start using my kindle fire when I'm visiting here. I hate that thing.

I don't seem to able to edit my profile either. It seems I'm logged into proboards but not to AAEC. I'll continue to work on it.

The proboards login is correct, I think it's the same for everyone. Haven't you another browser to test with prowlerIs there a single setting to disable everything 'greasemonkey' with just one click? It's got to be greasemonkey interfering: You could also try updating Java itself.

Problem solved by accessing and editing my proboards account. I hadn't even known I had one. Never used proboards before.

Just to explain, as you were so helpful.
I have my firefox set up that almost every script has to be manually allowed first time. I had whitelisted AAEC but with the update, it seems, I had to allow a js from an address @ proboards.
