I've just picked up some .3 kanthal wire and wanting to have a go at doing a micro coil or two this evening.
I have been using .25 kanthal and coiling round something that is roughly 1.5mm. I know that if i do 7 wraps I get 1.5 ohms or if I do 5 wraps I get 1.1 ohms etc.
How many wraps of the .3 will I need to do to get close to 1 ohm and how many to get a bit higher... Say 1.5 ohms?
Cheers

Just had a quick look and there are a couple of coil calculators in the guide section sonicflowjoeThe Steam Engine one also has an ohms law calculator plus a battery drain one and lots more useful stuff

You weren't far off @scooby According to the coil-toy calculator that i just looked at 7 and 10 wraps get the ohms i asked for on a when making them 2mm diameter... for 1.5mm it says 9 and 12 wraps.
I have something else to wrap around that i think is closer to 2mm. Which diameter would be preferable? Thinking with a lesser diameter and more coils it might make for a tastier vape as more surface area? What's the benefits of larger diameter coils?

There is a great software program that you download and run from your desktop instead of your browser.
Can be got from here link Clicking on the union jack changes it from French to English. Ignore that I have dialled in 3.7v at the top, I was working out how many watts my mate was using on his Ego battery.

Just finished making up No. 10 from Super-Shiny's chart and got bang on 1.4 ohms first time Now to see if my kayfun mini clone will keep up with this coil installed and wicked with japanese cotton from V-A-M. Had nothing but dry hit city with it previously. So far so good.... (got some thinner liquid in it too which seems to be helping)

Nope... still getting dry hits. Think i will have to retire this thing to dripper mode and pick up an Ivogo one instead. Cheers for the coil help though folks Going to try a lower ohm one to go in my kfl+ on mech next
