glad your sorted but with a standard coil/head you can norm go to 8 maybe 9 watts before the burnt taste comes(unless its a duff which is not uncommon)cotton wool is a diff beast and you can norm take the wattage as high as you like bubbles are the norm after a vape set the air control were you like it now it should be ok you should get more flavor outa cotton than silica any hows hope that kinds helps sorry it to late to help lol

A crack and pop is the sign of a good coil thanks jaysey, id thought this but the initial crack is only on the first draw of lets say 5 draws then its just the normal crackle gurgle, i then put it down for 2 minutes and then the first draw is a really big crack and so on. if i have it in my mouth at the time i can sometimes get a small blast of juice into my mouth, ive never experienced this before.

I find a small cotton 'flavour wick' on top of the coil stops the spitting. I do this each time I rewick.

On the Kanger heads I get the coil is wrapped around silica and then there are one or two small pieces of silica laid on top of the coil. I don't use them until I've replaced that with a microcoil & cotton wool or cotton tape. So when I rewick I just copy the original. I use one 'flavour wick' on heads that had a single coil but use two on heads that had a dual coil. I found the tip to do this on AAEC but can't remember who to thank.

Jonco's coils are the same as mine just that his are better made :Dso give it a try. Just roll a small piece of cotton. I use about half the thickness of the cotton I put through the coil. Lay it on top of the coil, put the chimney and cap on. Then if the flavour wick is longer than the wick through the coil just trim it to the same length. If I've made a good coil it pops well but doing this it doesn't spit.
