I have a parent of one of my pupils who drives the snowplough in the winter, he works on the road surfacing gang in the summer - can't get him away from the tarmac!! That man has two jobs for life. im not sure his employers have thought this through

Not wishing to scotch all these rumours of endless holidays, but I haven't had (and probably won't get) any holiday away this year, as we are frantically trying to set up and legalise our new Charitable Trust after Cornwall Council decided to make us all redundant on December 31st. We had meetings every few days over August, and I personally did loads of work in preparing our new website, setting up a Crowdfunder project, helping to write letters for schools and parents informing them of the likely changes, and a whole host of other things too. The other Team Leaders investigated pension schemes, wrote draft contracts and terms of employment, started drafting a brochure and information packs for schools, set up bank accounts, and contacted people for design of logos. None of us had any time away, and now that term has started we have a full timetable of teaching plus our TL duties, and still have loads to do with regard to the new Trust. As a result, I'm bleddy knackered!! I would therefore appreciate it if you would mentally remove me from any comments regarding '10 weeks holiday with nothing to do!!'. I thank you

10 weeks holiday....oh I wish I lived on that fantasy island.
Our department at school delivers 5 different qualifications, at 4 levels each. We have three teachers.
Last year we started new national 4/5 courses. This year, hew highers, and next year new advanced highers. We were promised materials would be written for us, and nothing appeared. So basically, we need to write resources for 5 courses between three of us this year, the same next year, and we had to do 10 courses last year. Holiday weeks mean working about 50-60 hours a week, normal weeks are 60-70 hours a week. Wish I could afford a weekend off, never mind 10 weeks.
Rant rant rant rant rant !!!!!!!!!!
(Rant over)
If you want to talk about holidays, talk about MPs. (But you were right, chinese ppl do have more holidays than teachers, well the ones who care enough to put in the work really required)
