Hi
I've been thinking about this for a while now and im very keen to hear anyone's own experiences and thoughts on building or modding somthing into a squonker.
I'm a jewellery designer maker buy trade and have access to some pretty cool workshop equipment materials and tools so that side of things shouldn't be a problem.
There seems to be very little info around in relation to squonker. But from what I can see the main thing is modding a dripper and 510 connection to allow the juice to pass through from the bottom.
How is this achieved on the reo etc??
Is there anywhere that sells and of the parts required?
And if you own or have built a squonker show me some pics please.
Thanks for reading Barney

del sole who do sunbox sell the 510 connector and magnets and bottles and tubing so you can probably source everything you need from there website. I recall the prices being very reasonable

Not had one, but all the ones I have seen the juice travels through the centre pin, this is the reo upgrade kit and you can see how they do it.

Ah ok. So some options available of the shelf...interesting indeed
Still toying with the idea of building somthing bespoke but will check out the pieces mentioned above for inspiration for sure
Probably start mech initially but regulated could be really good eventually.
May build a sterling silver box and use that for all the bespoke parts as it's readily available to me. Could even use gold!
Thanks for the info people

Buy a Sunbox M or E series. Cheers I

Not a great deal more than a solid hardwood wooden box mod that's for sure. I'm not talking about a billet of silver rather a hollow box from 1-1.5mm sheet small and compact.
The whole point if this thread is that I want to build somthing myself mate not buy another mod.
I'm a maker I do it for a living and i love doing it for fun too...

In fact as an example I have in front of me silver box not quite big enough for the job. Would happily house 18350 battery (possibly two) with room for a 5-8mm bottle It's very rigid and robust as it has curved front and back thus giving surface strength and rigidity
And guess what it weighs... 55.34g
Scrap price on the silver weight based on this afternoons price would be £16
So I'm more than confident in fact I'm certain a lovely little compact mod could easily be made
And as mentioned these are materials I'm surrounded by. I have a huge amount of scrap silver and some gold too.
I just love making things and I love a challenge get even more!

A Reo or a Sunbox would give you a place to start.
A model to emulate, a source of parts and some hands on with an established device.
Have fun. I

It's only a hollow centre pin/ a plastic/silicon tube & a bottle more complicated than any other mod and I think that as long as you have a suitable atty when you finalise the centre pin it is quite doable from scratch.

I do have access to a lathe etc so hoping to get going without the expense of buying another mod tbh although there is no doubt it would make things simpler

These were my initial thoughts and i love the idea of doing as much myself as I can and making somthing truely one off/bespoke. Guess that's juts in my nature in my line of work. I tend not to buy anything in even when its available of the shelf as i love the challenge and being able to say I made that at the end of it all is part of the satisfaction really If I wasn't confident in my ability and the tools equipment I have to hand though starting with a pre made mod and modding it would be the best option. Silver contacts etc, although in the real world prob won't make a great deal of difference but it certainly would very cool

We are all different and like to take different sized steeps, but I think you are a bit like me and want the motivation of making something better than you can buy, something you can't buy or making it cheaper than you can buy it. I built an ambitious mod on my first try (link in my sig), the execution wasn't as good as the design, but I did it and using it everyday for the last 8 months. I think that the next thing to motivate me to do another (cash & time allowing) is a squonker or the next gen DNA.
