13 Amp UK Wall Sockets with built in USB

Has anyone any experience of these replacement wall sockets as I would like to replace a couple of standard ones.

we have had them at work for a while but just remember even though they are great they are 2Amp output

As ronaldo says - the ones in the original post are 2 amp and the ones in laireys post are 1 amp

Recommended output for ego style chargers is 500mA

there is some on ebay right now that are 1 Amp output but still to powerful for egos just be careful if you are thinking of getting one make sure it is suitable

Three good thing's about using a standard plug in charger


You don't need to swap out a socket in your house so no need for any do it yourself electrics/electrocutions 
You can move it from one room to another, or even a different building, with minimum fuss
If it breaks you can throw it out and plug in a new one

But if like us, the kids have something plugged into EVERY available socket these are a great idea.

If your changing yourself, which is very straight forward, get a volt meter to check powers off or isolate the whole consumer unit at the main switch. You would be amazed at how many times circuits are mislabelled, especially in older properties.

While we are on plugs and stuff, anyone know where I can get one of those USB plugs that plug into you cigarette lighter sockets, I've seen plenty about but they all seem to be 1Ma
