When I started vaping and joined this forum 7 months ago I started like most with ego/evod type setup. I then got a Vamo and everyone said mech mods was the way forward, I followed and got a stingray and went to the next level. Now the trend seems to be towards VW box mods. I got a DNA30 on the group buy and it is so good I am asking myself the question has the VW box mod now replaced the mech mod. When vaping now I seem to pick up the DNA30 or Vamo and my Stingrays are being neglected - what does anyone else think about all that?

They have for me, but I still use a mech with 18350 or 500 walking the dog.

I've always been more comfortable with vv/vw devices but I do understand the pluses to a mechanical mod. Mainly its size.... I dont think I'd be interested in sub ohms so thats never been the draw for me. I have 3 mech mods, a pair in 14500 and a 18350. I know these will probably always work so will last me into (and through) Armageddon my assumption being they are absolute backups as there's no electrics to go wrong and no wiring to worry about, so if vaping was somehow banned I can continue (if needing to replace batteries often!) I'm quite happy to use mods with non replaceable batteries, as long as that equates to decent battery life verses size. Small and long lasting suits me! so my ileaf and mvp are great for now but I know I need to have virtually unbreakable mods for emergency and future guarantee

They are definitely increasing in popularity. Now everyone is pulling out the "big guns" with 150w and 180w devices it's only going to gain in popularity. I think we will also start seeing more lipo batteries used, like the variANT uses due to their capacity and amperage.

I don't like lipo's, simply because they give a mod a finite lifetime after which you either need to be a member here (for ronaldos services) or send it back for a service replacement (money) or bin it dispose of it correctly.
Kind of balanced opinion on the original question though. I have 2 roses, one on a Nemi and one on a DNA30 from the group buy. I'm constantly switching between them. They are coiled and wicked the same, with the same juice. I can't detect a difference between them, so I'm quite happy to keep swapping.
One good thing for box mods - they don't roll off the table.

I do tend to use the box mods more than any other type.

Yep for me mechs have had their day. I still have a few just in case but never use them.
For me advances in vv vw make mechs redundant.

I recently bought a second hand IPV2, and have not touched my Kato or MVP since.

Another subjective topic. I personally prefer box mods because they suit my way of life better. I can go to work with a couple and charge them via usb from the 12v port in the lorry which saves me from carrying batteries as well. Plus the fact, they sit nicely in the cup holder on the dashboard and don't roll all over the place. Personally, I think you can't beat an MVP, but I know and understand they aren't for every everybody.
