Got the clone from FT and have been messing with it for ages. It will not fire. Finally got the multimeter out and it appears the magnet you put on the bottom of the battery only conducts the power when it's on the "wrong" way round. i.e. attracting the firing button. I'm no expert, but how can that be? The only thing I can think of is that the magnet must be coated on the repelling end, but why would they do that?

I don't have the answer bit I had similar bother with mine. I've had it for weeks and it wouldn't fire, took it to Vape meet to get someone else to look at it, put battery in to show them and hey presto...it just worked .

I had similar issues. How I got around it was to wrap the magnet/copper insert in one layer of tin foil, then screw it back into the Delrin spacer, the magnet/insert is not much thicker than the spacer so if it's screwed too much toward the battery side it won't fire as there's no contact with the fire button.

I don't think that's the problem. If I put a multimeter on the battery with the spacer the wrong way round, it reads full. If I put it on the right way round, repelling the button magnet, it reads nothing.

Mine took some faffing, is the magnet in the middle of the spacer or more to one side. Mine only fires if the magnet is in the middle.

It's well centered. It's the multimeter thing that's bothering me. I put the magnet on the bottom of a battery, then take a reading. the wrong way round, it shows the charge. When I put it the right way round, nothing.

Just tried putting magnet in both sides up. In the correct way the switch returns to off, the wrong way round and it doesn't return. Sorry can't be of more help. How odd.

If it gives a reading in any direction then there cannot be a coating on any side of the magnet. Is there an insulator of some sort that the magnet sits in ? I get the impression from reading that there is. Try this, take the battery out of the mod, put the magnet (without insulator) on the battery and take a reading from the battery positive to the magnet, Turn magnet over and repeat. If you get a reading in both directions then the problem must be the way the magnet sits in the insulator or the insulator sits on the battery. I just cannot see the magnet only allowing current flow in one direction only though I stand to be proved wrong.

You're not wrong. Thanks all for helping me think it through. The magnet was protruding a bit, but from the wrong side. Took a quick bash from a nail punch and bobs yer uncle.

With mine I have it working by spinning the plastic ring so that the side of the magnet which sticks to the battery is flush. I had to adjust this a few times as often it would be attracted to the battery and stick but was not actually making contact. This leaves a tiny portion of the magnet sticking out the other side. The button has a slightly raised copper ring that then will make contact with the other side of the magnet when you press it.
Hope that makes sense and you get it working soon.
