wow on the 23rd Jan at 4:15 pm I had my last ciggy too - was vaping and smoking for about a month - but then on the evening of the 23rd I decided that that was it - as I was happily vaping along the 4th evening without needing to have a stinky now : I don't even think of them anymore

I began vaping on the first day of the school summer holidays, at the end of June. Had one ciggy before my kit arrived and that night and the next night I had one roll up with a few beers. Since then been totally tobacco free.

Been vaping for 25/26months from smoking 30 a day and would never look back...
Not only has my health improved but I have met some awesome people in the process.

My first experience of vaping, lasted a week . . . I don't think deep down I was really ready in my head to say goodbye to my friend of 36 years - smoking. I loved to smoke and did it with a passion, all or nothing that's me. That and the unreliable kit we had at the time conspired to stall my attempts - I had no spares or back ups, so when what I had failed, it was easier to carry on smoking. A year later I decided that I really needed to get a grip on my smoking, 40/50 cigs a day not only were ruining me financially, but I had a permanent hacking cough and the most awful yellow fingers. Kit had improved by then and I took it steady, gradually substituting cigs for a vape until in the last couple of weeks it was just the first one of the morning I had to get rid of. Then one Saturday morning 3rd April 2010, I woke up and simply didn't fancy that either the moment I opened my eyes. After that, I knew I could do it and haven't been seriously tempted since - I still don't feel that I've given anything ' better ' up. So if at first you don't succeed, don't be put off . . . and take it at your own pace, one persons method of switching might not be one that suits you.

Took a puff of a cigalike, ran out and bought my own. Came on here, got a decent kit and not had a smoke since my banner thingy. Straight clean switch from one to the other

this time last year I remember radio adverts for 'stoptober' and I thought about giving it a go, not with the cig-a-likes that I had for when flying or staying in hotels ( already knew they were a letdown) so 1st week of October I ordered an ego with throwaway ce4 clearomiser and it arrived a few days later
I charged it and thought I'd see how long I could go with not smoking --- bar a puff of one ciggy in September I've been fag free since as it was surprisingly easy to not need a smoke as vaping was and is a perfect replacement nicotine system for me!
There were days in the 1st few weeks where I had basic issues like tank flooding, and duff coils but I started gathering extra backups and once I got an itaste vv ( 2 of them) and iclear 16 clearos it was so so straightforward.
Biggest issue I found was finding eliquids I really liked, once I found a few I really enjoyed I was sorted!

I'm similar to PerpetuaAs soon as e-cigs were launched 6 maybe more? years ago I knew they were my answer. Couldn't justify (at that time) £60 plus on the kit. Then a few years down the road a friend told me about a vendor.Cigalikes were all that were on offer. Battery problems but I knew it had potential. Finally a friend gave up 4 years ago this December and told me about aaec and UKV - that was just over 3 years ago! Didn't look back. Vaped and smoked for first 3 months (would smoke every 3 weeks or so). In the September (7th be to be precise) I upped my nic concentration to 36mg/ml and didn't look back. Occaisonally I smoke. Not often. Key for me is not having my nic concentration too low.....that's really important for me Also without e-cigs I would not have gotten debt free - you can't really justify £7+ a day on normal cigarettes when you have enough e-cig stuff in the kitchen to last you 3 months and it's only cost you £50

Seems to be a mix of people who mixed both and kinda tapered their ciggies off while increasing their vaping, and those who just made the switch and have never looked back.
I am always surprised how easy it was to switch knowing how many times I had failed to give up both "cold turkey" and using "NRT"
I had an ego battery and some CE3's I think, I forget now.
Was fairly content with what I had until I was due to go away with the Mrs on a little camping trip for a week and was panicking about how often I would need to charge my battery.
So I started looking around and heard about a vamo, few Google searches later and I found fasttech. From that moment it probably took me 2/3days to realise just how big this whole "vaping" thing is and it pretty much turned into a hobby.
Fast forward 2.5yrs and the choice available to the "new vapour" is absolutely overwhelming. Though if you do your research and dont rush anything you can get something which will last you a long time for not a lot of money. I think the smokers today have soo many more options then I had and soo many things that "just work" without having to mess around.

Well from smoking 40 a day for 37 years the transition to vaping was a bit stop and start. I tried a cigalike kit first, bought from a car boot sale. It was early morning cold and there was a woman and a man sitting in a black tent vaping and it looked wonderful, just like smoking I thought. They offered me one to try (obviously fully charged with a new cartridge) and I was sold. Having got it home and determined to give it a go, at last to be free from the stickies off I went. It wasn't long before the charge on the battery dropped and the cartridge depleted so charged it up again but only really worked for the first puff or two, cartridges were either dry or leaked, so off it went in a drawer and sat there and I continued smoking.
A year or so later I got an e-mail with a 'special offer' from Skycig so thought I would give it a try. It was a step up from the first one but similar problems, having invested quite a bit on different cartridges I did not want to give up and at that point I FOUND THIS FORUM. Totally confused about the terminology and feeling a bit inadequate about asking questions I read up all I could and tried out various different clearos on an ego without much success. Then the dreaded vaper's toungue set in - I swear it was the Bud clearomisers I was using at the time, you had to suck so hard I think it just killed my sense of taste. I contacted a vendor at the time regarding my problems and I remember sending him an e-mail along the lines of, does it really need to be this difficult, batteries that don't hold a charge, leaking clearomisers, needles, syringes, boxes and boxes of tissues, finding an Eliquid you like..... Smoking was never this difficult, light it up and off you go. He replied, please don't give up you will get there.
So I didn't, at this point I had pretty much stopped smoking taking only the occasional drag of my partner's cigs and thinking, god that is horrible. Next I found Jason (Vapeescape) and my real vaping journey began. 2 ego twist batteries and I think vision clearos. The twists were a god send at last something with some power.
From there onwards and upwards and haven't even had a puff of a stinkie for nearly two and a half years. On the odd occasion I get a whiff of smoke and think hmmm that smells nice but then I remember the horrible taste and in an instant the thought has gone. If any of you have read Alan Carr's How to stop smoking book- I blame it on the little green monster.
My advice to anyone new to vaping is to start with a decent starter kit with variable voltage and don't give in. It is sometimes easier to pick up a real cig but once you fing a setup to suit you it will be fine and hopefully you will never look back. Thankfully vaping has advanced in leaps and bounds since I started so the right options will be out there.
All the best on your journey, oh and any questions no matter how simple you think they are ASK. If anyone can help, this forum can.

I was a duel fueler for three years before I finally packed in the ciggies in May 2012 and I haven't looked back since, was spending over £70 a week on fags and now I have saved over eight thousand pounds according to my banner , don't know where the money is but it's not in my bank account lol, I have also converted quite a few family members who have now stopping smoking so chuffed with my self there . Kit arrived 13th September 2012, and from that day onwards I have only smoked 3 fags, and they were horrible! Not smoked in 18 months now, and wouldn't go back. This forum has become my surrogate family, and I just enjoy life now, vaping less and less as the nicotine requirement lessens and I lower my nic levels all the time. Now on 8-10ml and not noticing a great deal of difference. What a life-changing decision

Im go glad you posted this question. I have been good, bad, back to good...all over the place....One thing I noticed is every once in awhile I just need the hit of a nasty cig, then I'm alright again on vapor...Topping up my glass I call it. So glad I'm normal in that respect...been really beating myself up for it. I saw a really nice one the other day....of all the places...The Royal Mail. Post office...£24... Haven't noticed the brand name yet...but reading on here at least I know brand names of good ones now. And all sorts of juice, forgot the price on that Going back Monday and purchase it... I have 2 elcheapos from home bargin which are alright, but feel I need something a little better now
