i gota maximus board and the usb 2 puts out 500 ma but the usb 3,s do put out 2 amp(might be part of the fast charge thingamybob
would still recommend using a powered usb hub not plugged in to the pc mind(much cheaper to replace than a pc 2 ;p)

Thanks for the replies as now I won't use my CAD PC for charging at all.....!

Something I really didn't think about was damaging my PC. It's very expensive and even more so being freelance if it's broken, it's my work tool.

I'll stick with batteries from my £14 nitecore charger!

get a kato mod takes 18650,s which should last you all day and it stays were you put it

I certainly agree, you should never risk your source of income, just for handiness sake. But a powered hub would be useful to have anyway and they can be found for a reasonable cost. I got a three deck hard drive docking station with build in hub from Fasttech for about £25. They have a powered hub for £5...
