I don't know which bit goes, at the moment I'm trying to charge a battery with the charger wedged between a mug & the settee.

Mine keep failing I have to wiggle the wire constantly to get them to charge Why do they suddenly go ? Mostly it is overstraining the USB cable, they are quite fragel insige and bending them at a tight angle especially at the ends can pull/snap the joint to the plugs, the wire inside or the wire can sometimes cut through the insulator (internal wire insulators). Be careful waggling them in the socket as you can put to much strains on the micro USB socket's solder pads, which are harder to fix or replace than a cable. Not calling anyone heavy-handed this is a common problem.
