I've had my clone for a few weeks now and experimented with loads of micro coils with varying sucess. I started off with duel vertical coils with cotton wicks and am now using a .5mm .4 ohm horizontal coil with one wick going through both holes. It's ok but im wondering if anyone can recommend anything better. Im vaping custard regularly so stainless isn't going to improve things, from what I've been told.

No matter what you do mate, custard will always taste better from a silica wick Mesh seems to strip the body from the flavour leaving a clean but uncustardy taste. Cotton is better but still lacks body. Best results from custard actually come from a mid range coil between 1.7 & 2.3 ohms at around 7-9watts

I've actually just set it up as a dripper with the .4 coil and after using protanks for the last 24hours I'm reminded how good it is. You can't beat that crackle and instant hit. It's like you've got 10 protanks in your gob on mains power. I do love it!

I'd honestly say that cotton is the worst wick to use in a kraken. Mesh works a treat for some liquids, but surprisingly silica is the most consistant material I've found for standard horizontal or vertical coils. Don't get me wrong, cotton can work well, but it only outperforms silica when used in arrangements such as dragon coils.
So far I've taken my kraken down as low as 0.3 ohms dual verticals without even a hint of a dry hit using silica (as an auto dripper and regular RBA build) You really need to chain vape the bugger to dry those wicks. One point worth making is that you should not use braided silica, but twisted. It wicks so much better in genesis tanks.
Mesh can work a treat, but as you have seen, it can be inconsistent across a ranges of juices.
A note - I tend to use the kraken with full airflow, taking strong draws and lung hitting. If you want to mouth to lung or inhale very slowly, then other arrangements may suit better.

Kraken Cotton Silica Custard Sacrilege, but blakey tells me SS rope and mesh like Custard even less than I do ??? Whatever works and works well is always the right answer, just don't go near my Krakens (SS rope + mesh and tobacco juice only zone).

I didn't even think of using silica what size do you use and with what kanthal?

Back to using duel cotton wicks and it really is spot on. No dry hits and autowicking lovely so no genny tilt required. Less is definitely more when it comes to the cotton as it swells when saturated, choking itself on these tiny holes. Might drill them out to 3/3.2mm. I have even left it on it's side for over an hour without it leaking.
I just love it!!!!
