It's not charging, I have tried several different leads and power supplies and it does not charge, the display flashes and shows an empty battery when you press a button but it will not charge. I took it out with me to work today and it had 50% charge left in it, no problem I thought as I have a couple of USB ports in the car as I have to run a bit of a mobile office in the car. Plugged the iStick in but it didn't charge I thought it may be the lead although the lead worked ok for my Blackberry. Back home tonight, plugged it in to a lead connected to the USB3 port on this laptop and nothing, nada, zilch. Tried about 3 different leads (which are ok on other devices) and 3 separate power supplies as well and the same result I just checked the Heavens Gifts website and their return policy states you have to pay to return the item, then they will credit you for the item, then you can use the credit against a replacement BUT....... and it's a BIG BUT...... you have to pay the shipping for the replacement, which in this case is DHL at $20 with no other shipping option. So... doing the Maths.... Return registered postage I guess about £5, then delivery by DHL about £12.60 at Paypal exchange rates so it will cost me around £17 plus my time and waiting etc to get a replacement. I have 2 on their way soon hopefully from Evkoo at £18 each...... Not worth my time and effort to return the faulty item IMO. Too be fair to HG their returns policy is there in Black & White on their website, but if anyone else has a problem just be aware of this.

dalealan I have whipped off the bottom plate and the USB port looks solid, I have attached the USB lead with the bottom plate off and gently wriggled it and there's no movement nor does the charging display come on so I don't think it's a connection problem. I may try pulling the board out tomorrow in the daylight but I believe you need to break/desolder the connection to the atomiser connector.

It does sound like the usb connector in the mod itself DiscoDes..........That's a shame, but by the sounds of it regarding HG, it'll end up costing you more than it's worth.......The only thing really, is to bite the bullet & order from Evkoo I suppose...........Could someone on here maybe have a look at it for you? Edit:.........sorry Des, you replied before I posted. "Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!"

No worries chrisjw I'm pretty sure it's not the connector, but I will try and get it apart some time soon, I DID (a long time ago now) do an apprenticeship as a electronics engineer but this thing is soooooo small and tightly packed! The USB connector is actually sandwiched between 2 PCB's

It could be a dry solder joint DiscoDes on the USB socket, it would still feel firm. If you get the board out slowly run a tinned soldering iron over the 5 small connections.

Yes, that's what I intend to do. I've had the boards about a quarter of the way out but you do need to desolder the negative wire to the top cap which is soldered on to a brass looking pin.

Ain't you naughty DiscoDes! I just broke my t-max! Beauty ring bit came off. I just shoved it back in but I think it needs a solder to cry on! Seems ok now and still working. Hope you fix your istick

Only for info. I use an electronic distribute station so after 2-3 minutes it is disassembled. I use this one here. Soldering & Rework Station - Model ZD917.
