Phoenix . I don't think it's a "problem" with the iStick if you are just be a bit careful when plugging in the USB charger lead, do not force it. I may have put undue pressure on mine at some point and it has failed, up to that point it had not missed a beat.

Could you use some copper braid to suck up the solder? I have some I can send you in the post if ya like

I would try Solder wick, works far better than a solder sucker. However if the board is through hole plated then it would still be a challenge. On the plus side it does show a certain level of quality if the have are using through hole plated boards as they are more expensive than side sided boards.

You can see the problem if you look in the USB connector on this photo no plastic central part with contacts:



Here's my new one notice the central plastic tongue with the connections :

The pic of your new one DiscoDes , also has the usb connector the opposite way round to the old one too, if I'm correct.

It's probably a combination of your crap photographic skills & my doddery old eyesight DiscoDes......... , but the new one looks like it has the pins at the bottom, as opposed to the top........an optical illusion no doubt.......

So I have received the istick is broken. I have also just soldered it apart and quickly you can see what happened the micro usb connector has fallen out.
I have more Pictures if any of you want it.
