First e-cigarette 'vaping' advert to be shown on TV

Dave Levin of VIP, the Bury-based company behind the advert, says: "E-cigarettes have attracted a lot of controversy recently, which has largely been due to concerns over safety, so it will be interesting to see how people respond to our advert's debut."

Talking about this on Radio Cornwall at lunchtime, only caught a bit of it but did text the show with my comments. Some stupid woman from the NHS Smokefree service was wittering on about how addictive nicotine is, as if it was the most dangerous part of it!
My text was "I'm a vaper, and gave up the stinkies over two years ago thanks to e-cigs. Nicotine is addictive, certainly, but no more dangerous to your health than coffee, and is present in many food we all eat every day. Surely anything that gets smokers off tobacco is a good thing!"

I know coffee is addictive chykensa. I'm up at some ungodly hour not able to sleep cos 'I'm craving coffee' LOL

and I have GP's and food shop in the am. And if I don't sleep and am dizzy that'll be food shop out!

Chykensa got me thinking about Nic in Veggies so I had a look, everything I like is on the list and I eat lots of it, now it's only a small list and there are lots more foods and drinks that contain Nic, I have a quite a few friends that are always on my back about Vaping or smoking as they still call it, and telling me how deadly Nicotine is without knowing any facts, I'm now finding and making the biggest list I can find of foods and drinks that contain Nicotine and I'll be printing it off and slapping them in the face with it when ever they mention my Vaping, next time any of them ask when I'm giving up my nicotine hit I'll give them the list and just say "When you give up eating Veg" one of them is vegatarian and the amount of veg she eats she probably gets more nicotine a day than I do,, Oooh! yes I do know I'm stretching the truth a bit but if they can mis quote facts so can I,,

The trouble for VIP runs much deeper, of course, as they've been bought by an American cig-a-like (mainly) consortium. The same consortium that I have been following on the New York Stock Exchange, and exchanging information about with investors. ECIG (electronic cigarette industry group) are on the verge of total collapse.
They held back their share offering due to "difficult market conditions", hoping to raise $150,000,000.
The share price has fallen through the floor. $20 shares are down day after day after day, now 79.9% down to all of $2. Nobody wants to invest in a company selling a products with NO growth in the market since 2013. Nobody wants a piece of the action of a company that made a $9,000,000 loss.

They are royally *in do-do* . I look forward to the demise of an embarrassing brand, selling rubbish products at inflated prices.

Or, maybe they'll see an upturn. Who knows. Investors aren't going to help them though, only people stupid enough to fall for purile TV adverts.

Blu are spending £20 million in an attempt to destroy the competition in the UK, all funded, of course, by a Tobacco Company.

The plot is very thick indeed. Who will win? Will 2016 decide all our fates?

Un-curiously, I won't be buying VIP and Vapers in general are well equipped to persuade other Vapers to stop buying certain brands and/or products.




Has nobody told VIP that unlike smoking people actually talk about their hardware and liquids, which means you won't get people sticking to their "20 B&H, please" for 30 years. In vaping, products and people move on.

VIP were mentioned in that BBC piece linked to in the first post, but the clip in it, is of the ad above.

toots, apparently, VIP's ad, showed a female 'seductively' vaping  whilst this one (above), as you've seen, shows folk sitting around talking about it & actually vaping & as it's not cig-a-likes, it has to be better.
