VIP were mentioned in that BBC piece linked to in the first post, but the clip in it, is of the ad above.

toots, apparently, VIP's ad, showed a female 'seductively' vaping  whilst this one (above), as you've seen, shows folk sitting around talking about it & actually vaping & as it's not cig-a-likes, it has to be better.

So jess which one has been aired on the telly, the one sitting around the table vaping or the other ad I've just seen with one woman vaping at the start of the ad? I'm confused now

The KIK one is the latest, toots, the one in the vid, with them sat around the table.

I checked out KIK and the news is actually positive.

The point is - these products are getting away from the idea that an e-cig is a plastic stick with a light on the end.

I really don't buy that caffeine is as addictive as nicotine, I love coffee but can go without until the next shop quite easy. Nicotine is very addictive, as any heavy smoker that's gone cold turkey will know, I have twice. I personally do not want my children to smoke nor be addicted to nicotine so on that basis I think all e cig adverts should not be glamourising such a device that can deliver nicotine and should be after the watershed. Maybe if my dad didn't smoke around me from a baby, the marlboro man on the tele didn't tell me it was cool and I couldn't afford them then I wouldn't be so addicted to nicotine as I am now. It's not nanny state when protecting children, adults can make their own mind up.


As for the advert I think the the advertising company have done a Stella job, pushed the bonderies a bit and got a lot of free coverage for the company. As for porn is this day and age don't think so but if I had to give the lady on the avert a mark out of 10 I would give her 1...!

I think perhaps nicotine has a different effect on never-smokers than smokers. As an ex-smoker I'm sure I was more addicted to some of the other chemicals in cigarettes. My smoking was gradually going up and up. Now that I am over the smoking addiction I can quite happily go without e-cigarettes in places were I'd be climbing the wall to smoke. For example, I can walk my dog quite happily without vaping or even thinking about it. I feel I vape more because I want to. My nicotine strength is gradually going down - not because I want to quit nicotine but just because the higher strength is too strong for me now. This is just my experience, of course but I never thought I would ever be able to quit my 40+ a day habit never mind be thinking that one day I may not even vape.

I prefer the Kik advert. A never-smoking friend also commented that they liked it too. I don't see anything pornographic in either. It must all be in the mind.

I think the media is somewhat to blame for the confusion - on the radio they played "a clip" from the ad that was to be shown, and it was deffo from the semi-porn VIP advert (possibly the old one, don't know), then the Kik one shows up on tv, which appears to be actually quite good

Most of its in the mind so I suppose it depends what mood you're in when watching it....!

good for you I think vaping is the best thing since slice bread for smokers.

i have halved my nicotine level in 6 weeks, down to 12mg, still vape like a train though. When going cold turkey the first day is easy, it's around day 3 the cravings start to hit you like a train, that's when the last of the nicotine is leaving your body.
