So pleased to hear you are getting into the swing of it Tinkerbella Don't worry if you haven't given up real cigs completely - cutting down is brilliant

Yush, the ego is 3.2v standard and regulated meaning it will be 3.2v from the first puff to almost the last. It says ego/riva but we found it had 5 click proctection so it should be an ego. The riva is 4.2 volts to start with and dips down to 3.3v before it cuts off as it's ulregulated but it'll always be higher voltage than the ego. The main benefit of these is that you can use 2.0 ohm cartomisers or lower (if you can find them) with them so for the voltage you can get a lower resistance cartomiser to use and it'll be a hotter vape than the kr808d-1. You can't use low resistance gear on the smaller batteries, well you can, it's just not good for them at all. It's not recommended to use low resistance heating gear on any battery lower than 650mah, but some say no lower than 420mah. You can pick up some decently cheap low resistance 510 atomisers to use with it here: www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Vaping+Spares+%3E+Cartomisers with the code "allabout" for 10% off Well, I don't want to be all like "this is what I've ended up with so this is what you should get" but the lavatube on freedomvape is £10 cheaper anywhere else than I've seen it going for before the 15% off. It's a pretty decent variable volt device if you're looking just to skip to the end of your vaping journey. The ego was pretty much all there was for good ecigs when I started You can get just the body and pick up a charger for cheap on liberty-flights.co.uk then search around for a pair of batteries for it. I got some 510 model to start, then the ego, then the kr808d-1, then a 3.7v box mod, then an ego booster for my ego and now finally I feel like I can stop buying the next best thing now that I have the lavatube. It ranges from 3.0v to 6.0v but really your range peaks around 5.4v-ish (for high to standard resistance) as it dips down in voltage as you get higher up. Around the 4.7v - 5v mark on this device is what I found I need for standard resistance gear. It's not the best, but it's great for what it is. Once you variable voltage you wont go back I dunno, just to say that it's a great device if you're looking just to take the plunge while it's on sale. The ego is also a solid performer if you're looking to notch up the heat with some low resistance gear though. Brill!! Thanks.. I was warming to the idea of the variable voltage.. Maybe I 'll just save shopping around and go for this instead.. www.freedomvape.co.uk/shop/article_11/VV-Lava-tube-Premium-Kit.html?shop_param=cid%3D2%26aid%3D11%26

Yeah, if you're going to have a 1100mah ego then really looks aren't going to bother you so much. The lavatube is a bit more expensive but it's comparable to the £200 model provari ( enjuice.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=105 ) in what it does. It's like a stripped down provari for much less. You'll probably want to get some 3.0ohm or 2.5ohm 510 cartomisers to use with it. I really love CE2s on mine: www.vapeescape.co.uk/ce2-clearomisers-ultimate-edition-%28xl%29~268 (allabout for 10% off) but I find that you pretty much have to take the seals out and cut the plug seal with the slots in slots a bit wider into /\ shapes. After that they work wonders and it's a one time job. Biggest plus of the CE2 over the cartomisers is that they last so much longer. You just need to dry burn them once a week to two weeks and they easily last a month or more each. Really clean flavour for me but they're not much liked because you have to cut the seal to get them to wick properly. If you do get the CE2s, make sure you put two drops right onto the coil on the first fill so it's nice and wet or it might burn or burn out > I think you'd be pretty happy with a lavatube. I wish they were out sooner but they only hit UK shores this december and about the same time in the USA as well. You've come into vaping at the right time

Hi guys thought I would give an update At the moment I have hit a bit of a snag and feel slightly about it. As you know I am currently using the SD keyring with cartomisers and have been seriously looking at getting the Riva. My problem is this: e-juice leakage I have tried both the condom method and the direct drip method to refill but I still get leakage of juice when I sometimes draw off the keyring yakkkkkkkkk I always use the tissue method to blow out any excess but I still can't stop it, HELP!!! What am I doing wrong??? I do use a drip tip but to be honest I am getting a little disheartened and I don't want to fork out for a Riva if the same thing is going to happen (would I be better off buying something else?). Other than this slight hiccup I have really enjoyed vaping, oh and by the way the whiskey cream is lush too I look forward to your advice oh wise ones.

are you standing the SDK upright or on its side ? if its on its side the juice may pool a little
sometimes i have found that the coil becomes misaligned in the carto and allows a bit of extra juice in.... i gently wiggle a small straightened paperclip up through the battery end hole... beware tho as you could damage the carto

Thanks for the advice Gordy When I started off I must admit I used to leave the SD on its side but I realised it could be that so now it is kept upright but unfortunately it still happens I will give your 'coil wiggle' a try (if I feel brave enough ).

Make sure you blow it through after filling. The wadding should hold the juice no problem without leaks.

It could be the carto is on its last legs - especially if you have been using it continuously. It really depends on the juice you have been using, but over time, the wadding loses its absorivity, so that when you fill it, it's like it is overfilled for quite a bit, it works ok for a while then its burnt taste/refill time again.
Worth cracking open a new carto to see if that is the problem.

the paper clip wiggle can also dislodge any build up on the cartos coil... has the draw firmed up at all ?

Sorry for delay in replying, cracked open a new cartomiser and it solved the problem one day I might get the hang of this After reading all the positive reviews and feedback on the Riva, I am now looking to order one but I do have a question (sorry to be a pain). I do prefer the cartomisers over the atomisers but obviously I am having to fill up several times a day. Is there anything else I could use with the Riva that would last longer through the day so I am not having to refill with juice so often?

Thanks for the advice and the link Chrissie I have had a quick search and found this one: www.ecigwizard.com/shop/en/puff-tank/172-puff-daddy-tank.htmlNow it says it comes with a pre-punched dual coil cartomiser which is 1.5ohm. As I plan to use it with a Riva, would I need to buy a couple of 2.0ohm cartomisers instead (this is the part I find confusing)? I am thinking of just buying 2 Riva batteries instead of a Riva kit as I will be using the tank system and I already have a mains as well as USB charger. Would that be okay and am I on the right track? I plan on still using the SD keyring when I pop out but want something more substantial for all day at home (bear with me).

Sorry Tinks, I've never used a tank myself so going to have to leave it up to others to advise which would be best for your Riva. But, yes you are right about it not being a good idea to use a 1.5ohm dual coil on the Riva.
The mains & USB chargers you have should be OK to charge Riva's - just might be slower than the charger you would get in a Riva kit.

Hi Tinker that tank looks good but dont for get to use the discount code 'ECR69' to get 12.5% off you are totally correct the carto it comes with may be a bit low for the riva so you will be best off with the 2.0ohms.. drop a note to Aaron and he may even swap the 1.5 for you. a couple of riva batteries rather than a whole kit sounds like a good plan specially if you dont get on with the atty and cartridge combo just to take on the mistress of temptation roll from Perpy for a second or two have you thought about a Lavatube if you are just going to use it at home where the extra bulk wont play a big part ...sorry i shouldnt tempt you but playing with the variable voltage is fun

Thank you both for your replies (quite like the shortened version of Tinker ) IF I was to go with the lava tube Gordy, could I still use the tanks on them and if I can, would I then be able to use the LR carto of 1.5ohm? Sorry for having to ask so many questions but this is like rocket science for me at the moment lol.
