Hello all knowing vaping buddies. I recently bought some new coils from Amazon. They are for Mini Protank 3, Evod 2 etc (which is all I use atm) and they are different to the ones I had when I bought my starter kit. What's the difference? I know they look different, but I want to know what I am buying because I like the new ones. The new are on the left, the ones I got with the Evod 2 starter kit are on the right. thinkingsmileyphotos won't upload... I'll try again in a mo. Basically the old coils have a small plastic cap over visible thread (wick?) and the new ones have a metal cover over the thread so you can't see it. Any ideas?

tut! OK, old coil at top, new type at the bottom of my strangely lopsided picture! Linky Here After reading a review I realise mine have small holes for juice to be absorbed through, not the elongated holes seen in the pic.

They are just new and old styles katiekooThe new ones are very difficult to rebuild with a microcoil, which is why I cynically think that they redesigned them.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you. Yes, I can see why they would be harder to rebuild & from a business point of view that would make more sense for the manufacturer. But a bit cheeky!

On what I think is the same line, I was looking at fasttechh and wondering which kanger coils to get and if I could get ready made coils to fit in them later on cos I've seen them mentioned in other threads. I saw no resistance, resistance, coils if I've got it right? I thought this might be a way to start of rebuild? Would these coils also do if later on I was brave enough to get something like a Russian?

I use these from FT www.fasttech.com/products/1591703 to recoil my Kangers with rayon . they work miles better than the stock coils they come with

I'd love to start re wicking/coiling... what coils can i re-wick that will go in a standard e-pen coil? i.e. iclear16 single coil - im thinking of investing in a mini protank too. Can i use these - www.fasttech.com/products/3033/10007197/1593909-pre-coiled-welded-wires-w-wicks-nr-r-nr-50-packSorry for the n00b question but once i know then i know Why do i keep seeing people sub ohm-ing and filling a room FULL of vapour from one puff?... do they not get the harshest throat hit ever?

Your best bet for learning to recoil/wick is to get on youtube and search and watch lots of vids

Thanks for the straight up answer Tom, one more question though...
Those long wick coils I'm gonna assume are not the right ones to put in the kanger bottom coils?
Because they have the long wicks, look better suited to the iclear16 setup if you know what i mean, or do I just cut the wicks down to size?
One more lol - what's better to wick with, cotton or silica? I bought some really cheap clearo's from eBay and im sure they have nylon wicks as you get a plasticy burnt taste when it's less than a 3rd full of liquid :/

I have no experience of the iclear heads but snipping these would work in kangers. Google iclear rebuild videos and you'll be in rebuild video heaven
