May I just point out : there is NO idiot newbie question!!! We all had to start somewhere and every question has relevance to the askee and possibly others! I, for one, have no clue about vv/vw and look how long I've been at it!!

VV (volts) is the directly the amount of power from the battery to arty. VW (Wattage) is the power in relation to the atty. I.e if you set your device to 5v. Low ohm coils will taste burnt and high ohm coils will taste weak. If you set your device for 8 watts, low ohm coils and high ohm coils will taste the same. (Power is the wrong word but thought I'd keep it simple, burnt and weak taste is subjective and depends on wicking but u get the picture) Hope that helps

At the end of the day it's up to the end user to find a mode and setting that works for them. I have a few VW mods, however I have an Aerotank Mega that has 'wandering ohms syndrome' and prefer to use that one tank in VV mode to prevent burnt juice. Whatever works is the right choice. The beauty is most VW mods also provide a VV mode - best of both worlds. Sorry if I make no sense, had a drink or four!!

If ive been mech'ing it for a bit sometimes I'll switch to vv at around 4 volts to give a similar vape Other than that I normally hang at the 12-13 watts mark

Seem to have started something here! Interesting to see people's views / preferences. Thanks for not slapping newbies such as me - happy to referee the debate at the vape meeting in London in Dec.
No doubt will have questions when iStick appears in the post from those free patrons at PayPal ;-D

Noone would go against that. We just try to help peeps make that 'right' choice

markgs59 there really is no idiot newbie question!!!!! Not on here!!!!! You don't know how many 'lurkers' are thinking just the same thing as you right now and how many folk you've helped just by asking that VV/VW question. No one knows but I guarantee that by asking your question you've helped more folk than you realise. Guarantee! So don't feel dumb or stupid. No need to to unless you fancy being chased with my £1 wooden spoon I think the first post in response answered your question nicely. I'm a huge VTR fan (more than your budget right now ) but that does VV and VW though I mostly stick to VW... But really tis more about personal preference. After yet another vamo bit the dust I was quite happy on mechs (resigned myself) till I discovered my VTR in May.... Hugs Jane

if its got buttons on it play with them till you like what you get just start off LOW and work up if you like it at 3.7 volts alls good as your batt will last longer but if you have to turn it up go for it a bit at a time till you get what you want or a burnt taste(trust me youll know what i meen by burnt taste when you get it )then back it off a little till no more burnt taste it works the same on watts hit as it were can be changed buy the mix of the juice you buy nig strength seems to be the most noticable for me 22mg has a strong hit on your neck were as 6mg is like butter(most noticeable on a dripper) a high vg % is said to sweeten and soften the above hit but its hard to wick because its thick a high pg% is said to give more of a hit and is thinner so easier to wick but less cloud production most juice that you buy in shops is 70% vg and 30%pg if you go on line and order it you can norm change the % of the mix tbh upping the power to the atty wont necessarily make more clouds but it can also be a limiting factor with bigger tanks wow i went on one opps

Thanks to everybody's input here. Just hit the free money PayPal and picked up my new shiny silver iStick from Myepack (great delivery service btw). Absolutely love it - I think I am getting a nic overload though since I can't stop playing around with the settings. I am using a PT3 with new style 1.8 ohm coils and found 7.7W to be best for my combination so far. Sorry was posting as markgs59 - but it appears Proboards banned my account after I was posting on my iPhone from a Cloud server Hope to meet some of you in London on the 13th.
Thanks again Mark
