Back again with problems - probably me being a newbie tw*t. Playing around with my nice shiny iStick with attached Protank 3 with the new style 1.8 bvc double coils. Spitting like the proverbial most of the day and drops on battery connection - only on 5.5 - 7.5W and have drunk at least 2ml juice today and have got into the 'pocket full of kitchen wipe' now (nod to Chykensa). The first packaged coil started showing wicks poking out of top hole and changed it to the other one. Even tried doubling up O rings to see it that would help. Really trying not to over-tighten but no better, just more tissues. Last time I had these problems was with a mussy and my newborn child - didn't know what I was doing there either . Any help appreciated, PayPal nearly bankrupt and getting through juice worse than a Bentley. Maybe someone at London/SE vapers meeting could give me counselling! (actually Nautilus mini only slightly better. Thanks again folks Mark

At that sort of wattage and using a Protank 3 you will quite easily get through that amount of juice at least!! And the spitting is nothing to worry about, it shows that the coil is clean and heating up nicely. Try firing the button a couple of seconds before offering to your mouth; if it does spit, it will simply shoot up the chimney rather than onto your tongue, not a pleasant sensation at the best of times! I don't use many Protank heads myself, as I use the old-stylee PT heads and recoil and rewick them myself. From what I can remember, wick does protrude from the head though, and that shouldn't be the cause of the problem. It might be worth spending a few quid on a Protank AFC (AirFlow Control) base - the base of your tank may be slightly out of true causing the seepage. If this doesn't solve the problem, the AFC will be a useful spare to have in your box. Others may have more suggestions in due course! ETA: Whilst I approve of your not wanting to over-tighten the atty head in the base, sometimes they do need to be screwed down reasonably firmly in order to compress the o-ring sufficiently to for a seal. Just maybe you aren't tightening it enough? Might be worth a (careful) try?

Thanks Chykensa for your advice will try everything you recommend. Juice was pooling in collar under the drip tip so ended up sucking neat juice at my wattages. Have put Nautilus on and ramped down to 5.5w and not too bad now but not a lot of flavour. However not getting told off by Mrs for using all her kitchen towel up and daughter saying the kitchen stinks of 'that stuff'! Hoping London lads and lassies can teach me how to use a tank at next meeting.

I used to give a little tweak with pliers to make sure it was tight but a good hard finger tight is more than adequate

Thanks Tom Did that once and base came off leaving coil screwed in. Absolute bugger to get out with juice slippy fingers - tried sharp nosed pliers and destroyed the coil

Ah, now juice collecting under the drip tip might be indicative of the tank requiring a more upright position in repose. Swinging your device around like a light sabre might be forcing juice up the airway. Another reason might be condensation. A quick removal of the driptip and a cautionary wipe with the omnipresent kitchen towel will preempt a mouthful of juice flavoured water

I never got on with protank 3 and the supplied coils. I experienced lots of leaking out the bottom. Tip from on here was swap the protank 3 base with an airflow base like the ones on the aerotank. They fit perfectly and provide a sealed unit so no juice can get through onto you mod/battery. Hope this helps. The airflow bases are only a few quid from myepack, you could post a wanted ad up on the forum as someone must have some kanger v1/v2 airflow bases knocking around.

I have 3 pro tanks and a areotank, I clean the drip tip base and the 510 connection with tissue every time i top up. The juice under the drip tip is condensated juice, it's getting cooled while traveling up the chimney and it pools there. A little bit on your 510 connection I wouldn't class as a leak, all my pro tanks do it.
As for coils I must go through one a day, the slight hint of coil taste and it goes in a bag to re coil, although I do about 7ml aday.

Thanks all As suggested I will look into an airflow base for this - I guess these are readily available from most suppliers. I have noticed that when I remove the kanger coil from the Protank base there is a lot of juice all around the threads. Nautilus behaving itself at the moment so can spend some time working on / swearing at the Kanger. Cheers
