blakey you will jump a thread or even strip the thread on the body if you over tighten the deck. I have found that the deck screws are not threaded all the way to the top, this is probably why I have had some intermittent connection issues. I'll look out for that when Icome to build it then. Cheers for the heads up mate.

One of mine struggles to make a negative connection at all and it seems to be that the steel is too soft and the threads on the body where the deck screws into are very poor and have got dirty just by taking the deck on and off. I cleaned them again with IPA and am now getting a reasonable resistance on the negative path, but am not confident that these will not continue to cause problems. I see FT have them for about 4 quid less, they look exactly the same in the pics.

The other one I have is even looser fit between the deck and body and have put 2, yes 2 layers of kitchen foil around the deck threads to get a stable connection on a multimeter.

Fine for Kanthal s1ht for Ni200 temp regulating on the DNA40 IMO. With builds that should register 0.12 ? it registers around 0.3 ?, the resistance dips a little when you fire, probably heat expansion tightening things, and sometimes jumps around a little so the DNA40 can't get a good enough connection to calibrate the coil and over heats it. It works if you turn the temp regulation off, but you might as well use Kanthal. Got a great vape with dual 0.6 X 0.1 mm ribbon 5/4 wraps on 3 mm ss rope, vapes upto 40 W, nicest about 36 W really good flavour even with max air flow. E: something strange with the 510, it gets no connection with a varitube now, but OK with a cheapy FT Hana screw adjusting one ??? E: It's the non conductive coating (on the 510 threads ) I have managed to get enough off the one with Kanthal in, may try the one with Ni200 tomorrow.

Right- coiled the bugga Why on earth have they put a non conductive coating on the parts that need to conduct ??? I set about cleaning it all off till I got to a point where I could get a decent contact then I wrapped a mesh only wick and installed it, using .2 kanthal I wound 4 1/2 wraps and pulsed the bugga till it was glowing evenly- came in at 1.2ohms- filled with juice and primed the wick. Fired it up and took a few wick bedding puffs, ohms dropped to 1.1 so I set to 12w and vaped. As expected- all the body was stripped from my cocomel But I have to say that as a genesis attie it performs very well indeed, thick dense vapour and wicks superbly. I can't recommend this clone though despite the performance because it simply won't work out of the box, you have to strip that coating from the places that need electrical contact- including the 510 - and that is a very laborious job. Shame really cos if only the cloners knew what they were doing then they could have provided an outstanding little attie

You can use oven cleaner on the 510 to remove the anodising, I'm using "Oven Pride" on a Q Tip and it's doing well, just only leave it on for 5 mins at a time and thoroughly clean after.

Got mine in the ultrasonic now .... Arrived on Friday but my darling daughter had hidden it!
Not sure how I'll get the 510 clean... Oven cleaner is a fine idea if only we ever cleaned the oven

Oven cleaner is a fine idea if only we ever cleaned the oven I scraped mine off with some brake cleaner and some wire wool and a small screwdriver Needs doing properly but I got it good enough to fire consistently on this shark. Once you've fart assed about and got it all working you'll be surprised at how good it performs

Impatience got the better of me so I gave the 510 threads a very gentle going over with some extra fine wet & dry.
Still get nothing when I use a hybrid top cap but on a basic nemesis top cap it's working just fine.
Vapour production has been great from the start and the flavour is improving as the wicks bed in.
Found it to be a fiddly deck to work on, getting the negative leads secured took a couple of attempts but now I've got dual coils of 0.3 kanthal on (I think) 2.5mm rope wicks.
So far so good.
Only thing is I can't help thinking that it would be even better if I could turn the power up...but I don't own a vw mod that can handle it.
Next up is a Sat22 which is somewhere between here and China.
Thanks to VapingBad and Blakey - It would have driven me mad trying to find out why it wasn't working if you had not been posting.

I used a fine wire brush on mine to get the threads sorted, but the oven cleaner is, dare I say, a stroke of genius?
