I did set up an AAE-C facebook page - www.facebook.com/pages/All-about-e-cigarettes/297310340286635 but I've just never got into faceache so find it difficult to keep any momentum up on it

Well, I really didn't expect a reply but I did. 

I have edited out out the reply, it doesn't contribute anything useful, now a few peeps have read it.

If anyone wished to edit out from their posts below, please feel free.


Maybe polls should always be just for fun.

sleedale I edited out the post on this thread, with the link to how to multiple vote, as soon as it was brought to my attention. I'd be interested to know how Jonny can prove that the software was in fact used & by how many, plus the IP addies. I agree that there is a good chance that folks from other places have also sadly done the same

Thanks for getting in touch.

Unfortunately there was a manipulation in the voting for both by some AAEC forum members. They downloaded a software program to enable them to place multiple votes.

I wasn't left with much choice as the votes cannot be reversed/deleted individually. Only to delete and start again.

The more important question would be to ask those particular forum members why they felt they needed to do this, I cannot answer that one.

It's extremely disappointing as I'm sure you will agree.

what gets me is potv were at the bottom and now there almost equal with ukv...... whos been using multiple votes??

The facts are..

He can not tell if a proxy program was used from the ISP's. He can only judge from the vote timing. If you look down this thread where numbers are posted all the top three forums votes come in splurges.

If someone here was cheating, why did he wait till AAEC was in third place [and out of the running] to delete us.

It's funny that it happened soon after Chrissie agreed with me that the poll was probably fixed .

All a bit sad, really. Wasn't aware of the vote-bot type thing, but really really surprised that it happened, although I reckon it was done without malice.

However, I can't help but think the forum vote doesn't really matter.
We all know UKV is a veritable gold mine of information, has a myriad of people - most are helpful, some a little bit elitist. The sheer volume of members means that it's not quite as intimate as our beloved AAEC
Likewise, we know that Justpoo and Blakey are great news. Chances are both felt honoured and embarrassed at the same time.
Given we know this, not a lot more really matters.

i.e. the whole forum / contributor side of the poll is, I think, a mistake as most folks will vote based on the forum they are most likely to use, rather than through cold consideration (a bit like voting patterns in our democracy is influenced by the editorial slant of news sources).

Best draw a line.

Agree completely with all said above.

To me, it's a poll, doesn't make anything better, or worse for that matter. We all choose where we take advice from and who we associate with, even virtually, and for me, this is the forum I prefer and thus frequent. And so now I will edit my above post. I just wanted a few peeps to know what was said about why AAEC had vanished!

If they were really serious about preventing cheating and getting an honest, representative result it would be secret until the voting finished. It's just a bit of fun and helps promote vaping and also helps sell some of the overpriced crap out there.
