Sorry for yet another new thread.
So a couple of weeks into the vaping and still all going well, except me going a bit loopy at times and having some nasty mouth ulcers!
As you may know, I went for just one SD keyring. It's great, and the battery works ok for my circumstances, although it sold be nice if it held a longer charge.
I am now thinking of buying another one, mainly to act as a backup. I am paranoid I will lose the keyring or it will break at a really bad moment.
So....should I just get another keyring (about £13) or should I go for a Riva kit with two batteries and the other bits (about £30)????

Glad to hear your doing so well on the keyring, i have one as a back-up and it great I personally think you would be wise to get a kit now with two batteries more money i know, but even if you bought another keyring it wouldnt be long before you wanted a kit.

I would go for the Riva. I've only been doing this s few days but got the SDK and a Riva 1100. I use the Riva at home and work and the SDK is my back up or if going out. I'm still learning a lot too! Ali x

Superdon, Seems to be about the same vapour with both - the only real difference, apart from manual and automatic, is that the draw seems slightly looser, easier on the Riva than the SDK using Boge SR cartomisers and I don't know if that's because of the different batteries/ switches, if that makes sense. And it's only my opinion as a very new user..... But I am happy to use either.

Is there a difference between an ego and a riva?

The ego is regulated to 3.2volts but the riva is unregulated and will come off the charger at 4.2volts and will decrease to 3.3volts before it cuts off. Newer ego models can be turned off by clicking the button 5 times whereas the riva will only take 3 clicks to turn it off. You shouldn't use anything lower than 2.0ohms on the riva as lower could damage the switch in the battery.
Other than that, there's not much difference at all. If you get the ego you could use 2.0ohm cartomisers and it would produce the same heat and vapour until it runs low on charge and cuts off as it's always the same voltage. If you use the riva with 2.0ohms it will be hotter than the ego so you might want to use 2.5ohms or 2.2ohms or similar but it will gradually decrease in performance as you use it.
I'm farily certain the ego/riva on freedomvape is an ego as the last guy who got one found it had a 5 click turn off feature.

Thanks leftfield. So is either one better? Lots of people recommend the Riva, so don'twant to end up with something not so good.

I think the consensus is that Riva are better, as they have a bit more oomph, but can't be used with lower resistance coils (<2ohm).

Well, it's down to personal preference. I would prefer the ego because it's a flat voltage so I know it will always perform the same, but others prefer the riva because it's an entire 1volt higher than the ego to start with so it will be higher in power straight away. The riva will dip in voltage as you use its charge so if you like higher voltages you'll need to keep charging it sooner than you would than with the ego.
Really though, they're about the same, so similar that the riva is a clone of the ego, it's just an unregulated battery.
You wouldn't go wrong with either. Low resistance cartomisers in either will be a strong performing ecig. The difference between them is fairly negligible.
I would go for the freedomvape ego/riva deal, I've not seen anything this good for that price in a fair while. The ego and riva are the most recommended ecigs to start out with and for quite a few, that's all they'll ever need.
For the price it's a really, really good introduction to longer lasting ecigs.

the riva is usually recommended as it runs a tad cheaper but in actual fact they are very similar. personally i would go with whichever is the best value
