VapingBad, thought we'd build it here. Keeps the forum tidy and plenty of space for others to offer info. thinking?? 4 sections - Introduction to Li-Ion batteries and safety. ego batteries and chargers. usb charged devices (also needs an explanation of the power required (mains adapter safety)). Big batteries and chargers. Maybe a 'what to do' section for accidents?? also covering responsible disposal (something that's been lacking)

Start} First, just a word on safety.
The batteries we use are potentially the most dangerous kit a lot of us will ever hold in our hands. But don't worry too much about that. With just a little knowledge you can be a a happy vaper.
Firstly - if you buy cheap you get cheap. Cheap Chinese copies from a bargain shop on the high street are not the way to go. Not only will the vape disappoint you, the electronics will undoubtedly not protect you.
We see it in the News all too often. Fires caused by exploding batteries. The most cited cause? Using the wrong charger. Whenever you buy an ego battery you should already have, or should purchase at the same time the charger designed for that battery. If you use a mains/usb adapter you should use an adapter rated at no more than 250mA over the current needed by the charger. So, for a usb charger rated at 500mA the usb adapter should be no more than 750mA. For 1Amp charging no more than 1.25Amps. Mark the battery and it's charger if you need to. A little dot of coloured nail varnish isn't going to spoil your enjoyment of your kit.
Never leave batteries charging unattended. You need to walk the dog? Unplug the charger, walk the dog, then plug it back in again. Same for bedtime.

big batts, kicks and how they can be helpful, also do research and ask questions don't just believe certain ebay seller's amp ratings

Keep 'em coming. Think we'll be splitting this into 4 seperate tutorials Quick question for everyone. Best vendors. I have cloud9 (for AWs), myepack, torchy and ecoluxshop, are there any other trusted vendors?

Ripshod I agree it is looking like we will need to do more than one guide here. Maybe an overview of lithium batteries, types Lipo, LiMn, LiPeFo, IMR and the main dos & don't like don't go below 2.5 or above 4.2 V, don't charge unattended, don't carry them loose and beware of excessive heat. Then maybe one for choosing a battery, one for maintenance charging, storing, cleaning & disposal and maybe the same two headings for eGos - iStick types. They could be on the same thread in different posts. And a where to get more info post with links to sources of info etc. I agree with the trusted vendor list. I am going to struggle with not getting techie to quickly so am thinking try to make the first part of each subject as simple as possible with liberal use of bullet points and only put tech stuff at the end as an optional extra.

I'd be happier if you was to do the main construction VapingBad. I get to involved and distracted by the finer points. I can't condense a paragraph into a couple of sentences. We should definitely start with the do's and don'ts. The most important information first - safety first. Then start with the egos as that is what most mewbies will be using. Then progress through {STOP} There's so much to think about and sort.

We are in trouble here, I'm dyslexic and was told and have found out many times that my organisation of written stuff is sub optimal lol. We should just do the best we can and I'm sure some of the less geeky members can help us make it readable once we have the content. We might to have to borrow stuff about eGos as I only had a couple of cheap nasty ones that are long gone to the recycling centre, I do have an iStick. What should the eGo type cover, my thinking is eGos, MVP, iTaste VV & iStick, not the details of how to operate, just how to charge and maintain.

My thinking of egos is anything that the charger connects to the 510/ego connector. egos, spinners, twists etc.
To me isticks and MVP are usb charged? (to make it more complex this can be further split to removable batteries (HANAs) and fixed batteries (MVPs)). We could group all the USBs into one group then add a little note in the Big Batteries section.
Make a post about what you're thinking and what you can remember. I'll then edit to add further info. Ping pong til we get somewhere?
