For some strange reason UK HMRC ignore anything from China unless it comes via DHL or similar 24 hour service. Whereas anything from USA attracts mega attention and added tax/VAT etc. I hate ordering from USA for that reason. The UK authorities are really mean on US imported stuff. I know people who've bought it cheaper in the US (or because it's not actually on sale here) for it only to be more expensive (sometimes quite a bit) when it arrives on the doorstep.

There was a time a couple of years back when I bought a lot of stuff from the US, mainly mixing supplies as UK Vendors didn't have the same assortment at that time, nothing ever attracted attention. It all seemed to change when airport security tightened up possibly? I stopped buying from the US when one flavouring order, the excess duty & handling charges were almost as much as the order itself!
